I wonder if by that point the NFL was lobbying teams to take him.  It's never a good thing when one of your biggest events is overshadowed by controversial failure.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Rich,

Considering the NFL has been slowly turning the NFL draft into a reality show, I would think they were static to have such a high-profile storyline to pique the public's interest.

According to Boomer Esiason, three NFL sources confirmed that Shedeur Sanders was removed from their boards due to ownership directives.

They didn't want him on their team. Period.

"I'm telling you right now, and I know this after talking to three different personnel people in the NFL this weekend, they didn't even have him on their board," Esiason explained.

"They took him off, and they took him off because the owner said, 'Take him off, I don't want that guy. I don't want this ... entitled person on our team,' and I don't blame them."

Now that's what I call an excited group...LMAO

This morning's news claim that Shadeur (perhaps encouraged by his father) purposely tanked his interviews at the combine and during team visits to most teams that he didn't want to be drafted by. Something was said by Shadeur (by anonymous sources close to Sanders) to the tune of, "You think what Eli did when drafted by the Chargers was cunning...you haven't seen anything yet"

Tanking interviews with most of the teams in the NFL is not a "savvy move"...it's called idiocy, driven by a sense of inflated (and false) sense of self-worth. So instead of becoming a multi-millionaire many times over, and getting a great chance at being a starter in the NFL this year, he opts for low pay as a late 5th rounder, fighting with Dillon Gabriel (who the Browns obviously felt better about) to make the practice squad

It was also said that Deion told people close to him, that both of his boys were only going to teams they want to be on, and who he approved of

I thought that too.

Sanders flat out refused to meet with certain teams, that while probably blowing the interviews with very few teams who needed a qb led to this. Not even spending the 15 minutes to meet with people who you hope to be around for 10-15 years is such a bad look. Totally unprofessional, if you are an NFL team and want to meet and him and talk to him and just spurns you that's just horrendous advice.

These guys need agents. Crazy thing too is he is probably getting a 90% paycut from staying in school and getting NIL over being a late rounder. Also Dillon Gabriel can ball. Sanders getting cut would be no suprise, then its XFL time. People that age need guidance.

It would not surprise me if Sanders wins the job outright in training camp or sits on the bench for a few games and then starts.  The Browns are primarily a running team and the most important job for the QB there is avoiding turnovers.  Thats a job Sanders can do.

I'm aware that virtually everyone on the site will disagree. But, I think Sanders is talented; not to the degree he was projected early on.  And, he needed to be humbled and I'm guessing he was.  It's not a big deal yo ssy he's the best on the Browns

Well .since the owner Haslem shoved Sheduer down Stefanski's throat..I would assume he makes the roster..but it's how Sanders approaches being not so "legendary" and bench warming.

Plus, he's out of the Prime crib that he has been in since high school It could go sideways very quickly. Major reckoning moment for him as to being a NFL professional.

I heard a comment this morning about this issue.  They figure Gabriel is a third-round pick, and it's unusual to cut third-rounders (even with the intention of putting them on the PS).  So they figure the battle is between Sanders and Pickens

I had heard from a reliable source, that when Sanders was being interviewed, coaches would show him not the good clips but the bad ones, and ask him why did you make this decision, and he got really offended and didn't want to answer.

Then he wasn't prepared to study when he had a private workout with Daboll.

And when Daboll called him out on it, it didn't go well.

Coaches don't want to coach a player who isn't humble and who can't take direction, it's the worst.

When the NFL levies fines such as this, where does the money go?

I assume the same place the fines given to players go:

NFL fines, collected for on-field violations, are donated to charitable organizations. The money is split equally, with a portion going to the NFL Foundation and a portion going to the NFL Players Association to support programs for former players, including those in need. The NFL and NFLPA can also designate specific charities to receive a share of the fines if they cannot agree on a single organization
