It's great to see the Giants going from mocking analytics under Gettleman to embracing it.

Q. You mentioned 40-yard dash before, not worrying so much about stats. How much has having in-game GPS times contributed to this scouting and evaluation process?

BRANDON BROWN: When you look at GPS data, the NGS data, all the game day metrics, it's all a tool in our process. Like I mentioned NASA before, our analytics department. Joe does a phenomenal job of including them not only in the draft process, but in free agency.

We can extrapolate certain metrics of, hey, does it correlate with the scouting report? When our pro director, Chris Rossetti, or any of our pro scouts has a report on a guy in free agency, and you say, hey, he has third-level speed and can pull away, or he has sideline-to-sideline speed and he can close and cut off backside. Is the data contradictory or is it giving it evidence in support?

When you look at the data in itself, we're always finding ways to really poke holes and have checks and balances in our processes. It's a supplemental tool.

We're going to continue to do it. We're going to continue to implement AI, which we talked about earlier this week. They're all things where if you're not taking advantage of all those tools and there's another team who is, then you're being negligent.

Joe has been really great in terms of opening the lines of communication and being collaborative when we get to the chance to add different sources and tools to help us make decisions.

SO damn refreshing!

Love that we have a 3 win team and 37 year old Russel Wilson, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual reality, A treasure chest, Advanced analytics, and Nasa are there to get us out of this.

Some of the preseason hype reads like those satire The Onion articles.
Sorry thats just what i see 😅

You are not unjustified in calling out the satire. For all the "gee-whiz kidz" vernacular flying about the Giants' offices these days, it will do little more than make leadership spin their heads if:

1. They do not understand it

2. They do not know how to make quality decision making with it

In the end, they are being presented very different tangible measures they likely have little idea what to do with. However, understanding the fusion of that data into the more "traditional" data they are used to, in order to synthesize an additional "qualitative" measure, they then come to realize they now have a means to develop an advanced quality approach, such as an Obeya Room, for making effective quality decisions on players for managing and optimizing their performance.

The Giants are still very much in the early adoption phase; however, further investment, training and education, along with leadership input, as well as taking in the industry best practices, the Giants would have a robust system in place, of continuous improvement, within two years or less.

This IS the future and it is rapidly becoming the present with each passing moment. That they are doing this now is goodness x 100!

Peace!

Nice post!

This is hYpE sZN to me. It's all a massive hype show. I love the Giants but I just see how it goes. I think low expectations and insensitivity are a good way to approach life, especially being a Giants fan.

I condition myself to laugh at a lot of this hype, I have bought into too many times. In this way I can not get down on it. I can only be happy if success happens.

I need to see something on the field. I would feel much better if instead of NASA and AI Brandon Brown told me that we were gonna punch someone in the f**King mouth and play to the whistle and maybe a little after, maybe their DB's will be intimidated by our wr's blocking. Maybe JMS goes and bites a knee cap off. Maybe Nubin is getting suspended for hits over the middle. Thats what I need to hear at this point.

I am interested to see how it plays out. The most analytic based NFL team is the Browns not sure what that means. I think sports is a lot about feel and experience. The data can help and it's an edge if used correctly. But you need real football people as the pillars of your franchise to start with. It's gonna be fun to see. Thankfully Gettleman got us those computer guys! 👍🏼🤣

OTAs. WTF? When did they become a thing? People got too much time on their hands if they think what happens during OTAs has any relevance to NFL football reality.

You don't want to see what I see, I can assure you. Nor would it be the slightest bit cryptic, Crypto whatever. In any case, with all your pissing and moaning, you might find somewhere else more to your liking.

We're in sync!

Pardon my lingo. I actually work for a contractor of NASA and when we're on, the whole world knows it! When we're not, the world abuses us, and Elon Musk laughs all the way to the bank, as he continues to blow things up all over Boca Chica Beach, TX.

'Tis the way of the world these days, and the Giants are no different.

Peace!
