if he plays like last year it will be a blessing

They have to pay the guaranteed money out one way or another

on the other hand they have 2 relatively inexpensive but capable QBs riding the pine

this route might at least gain a late round draft choice or another player in exchange

Do I think it will happen- NO.  Not our style

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on May 25, 2024, 10:48:34 AMI wouldn't have an issue with this, provided it's definitely more accurate than human calls. I don't see a good argument for why sports should not use technology to make officiating more accurate. Why allow for human error when you don't have to? Tennis is way better now that they have the technological arbiter on close calls. What is worse than a team losing a game because of a wrong call that could have been avoided with the use of available technology?

Very true. It is currently in use in the Australian Football League (AFL) for scoring reviews. Still, I've witnessed it being used incorrectly which ended up screwing a scoring decision for a team which ultimately cost them a berth in their Finals (i.e. playoffs).

It has the potential to take the subjective out of the reviewing process as long as the process for using it has been made error-proof due to the introduction of human in the loop error of other variables. For first downs, that would mean discernment of "when" the whistle was blown to indicate forward progress was stopped. (Edited to add) In addition, I wanted to recognize all those here who offered other excellent examples which would require other technologies, such as video, or sensors implanted in the ball, or maybe even microphones to hear the referee's whistle!

Let's hope they figure that part out first before implementing it at large.

Peace!

Last year, I thought it would be Waller to grab 100 passes and be the focal point of offense. That was a let down.  Dex has been the teams best player last two years. Thibodeaux has shown some teasing of great moments, but not someone to take over a game yet. I'm hoping it's Nabers as the dominant playmaker thar sparks life into a dismal offense.

Ric,

Looks like you got up early to try and beat some of the return holiday traffic and got slowed by an accident. Best laid plans, no doubt!

Glad you made it safe and sound.  :ok:

Dumbing down society one technological advance at a time.

I saw something that said at one point in time, the average number sequence most people could remember was seven. I have to believe it's less than that now. Why? Very few people bother to remember a phone number anymore.

I can honestly say there is ONLY one thing on that list that annoys me:

Poor drivers.

None of that other stuff bothers me in the least.

This isn't a political statement: I'm not annoyed by the politicians themselves. I'm annoyed at the collective voters who can't see past party lines to hold all of the people WE voted into office accountable.

Hard choice, but going with Kayvon Thibodeaux. He was already coming up to the standard we expected when we drafted him with our 5th overall pick, and he was starting to show signs of greatness. Now, with Burns on the other side, the focus of offenses will be on stopping Burns, which should allow Thibs to go up against someone other than the other team's best blockers and double teams. At 23 yrs old, and 3-years of NFL experience, and with the mindset that he will do anything to become the best in the NFL, he is getting ready to step into stardom...IMVHO

You want mandatory?! Let the owners and their shill (Goodell) open up the coffers, pay these players what they deserve and go back to a 16 game schedule.
I agree 1 billion percent!!! Baseball and basketball have fully-guaranteed contracts. NFL needs to do the same.
