Quote from: AZGiantFan on Today at 01:07:27 PMHe didn't know there had been a fatal accident and it is routine for players to bypass cars lined up to get in.  I'm sympathetic to his situation because years ago I come up on a scene where there were lanes closed, detours, and contradictory 'Keep Left' and 'Keep Right' signs and  I was confused and found myself in the wrong place.  I got screamed at by one of the construction guys.  But they're the ones that created the confusing situation.

That said, what kind of idiot tries to stop a car by grabbing on to it.  The overcharging was ridiculous.  And it is to Scoottie's credit that he had the mental strength to birdie his first hole and go on to shoot 66 to be t4 after the round.  And WHY wasn't the cops' bodycams turned on?

Yeah I wasn't saying the cop(s) did a good job here. Clearly that wasn't the case. More just that this incident could have easily been avoided. Bottom line, even if this cop was an idiot, Scheffler still put his foot on the gas after being told to stop. I would say that was a momentary lapse in judgment on his part. So was driving an extra 15 yards (per eyewitness Jeff Darlington) when the guy had (stupidly, I agree) "attached himself" to the car.

Stuff happens though, and this isn't the end of the world. If this is the worst mistake he has ever made in his life then he is probably in the 99.8th percentile of most virtuous people in the world.

Big Blue Huddle / Who are the 4 worst teams in t...

Former GM Mike Lombardi thinks the Giants is one of them.

I looked at the over/under odds for team wins.  Here is who Vegas thinks the worst

Carolina Panthers
Denver Broncos
New England Patriots

Beyond that, it's a massive tie (6.5 wins)

Arizona Cardinals
Las Vegas Raiders
Minnesota Vikings
New York Giants
Tennessee Titans
Washington Commanders

So who are your 4 worst teams?

The evolution of the angry Giants fan:

2019

I am angry that the Giants drafted Daniel Jones with the 6th pick in the draft just to draft a QB.

2024

I am angry that the Giants DID'T draft a QB with the 6th pick just to draft a QB.

I am mindful that as HOF GM Bill Plian says, the fans and the draft pundits only know  a fraction about prospects (especially QBs) than teams do

The success rate of 1st round QBs (regardless of definition of success) is a bit less than 50/50 (bad support lowers these odds)

Also, as Carl Banks has said repeatedly, the Giants drafted Malik Naber to make the Giants a better team.  They didn't draft Nabers for Daniel Jones.

Quote from: kartanoman on May 17, 2024, 10:24:12 PMHey, I think coggs is playing with you, more than anything else, but every one of us here were ecstatic at game's end. Whether, fan for fan, we're taking tabs on who's predicting what, in the end, who really cares, anyway?

Look, we all process our lack of patience or frustration differently. That we can express it here freely, and can kid each other about it after, doesn't change the fact we all have an underlying respect for each other, if not a kinmanship.

You know, I was all riled up early on about destroying the "Paper Champions" and stirring that thing around. But, as the series went on, I grew to enjoy the fight in Carolina and their clawing their way back into the series. I came to realize this series was the best of the NHL, so far, and everyone outside the fans of both of those teams have have watched and admired the intensity the two teams brought. So, I freed myself from the emotions, as much as I could, and just sat back and appreciated the game and the skill of both teams. The game didn't disappoint and neither did our boys when it counted most.

Now, we can celebrate another milestone as the Rangers get the Panthers in the semifinals. It's an appropriate matchup and one that has been destined since the 4-3 shootout Ranger win.

So now the discussion turns to how this Rangers team is going to win four games against this Panthers team who has the speed, the shooters, the goons and an excellent goalie. This series won't be for the feint of heart! If the Rangers are truly a team of destiny, they'll find a way.

Peace!

Yes and no.  The doom and gloom of Rangers fans is just tiring.  Up 3-1, have a bad game and everyone sucks.  The GM sucks for not trading for a top-6 forward (because that worked out well last year).  Rangers fans expect them to win every game by 4+ goals, score the first two goals of every game in the first 5 minutes.  Never allow the opponent to get closer than 1 goal.  Score on every PP, kill every penatly.  Win the Corsi battle 95-5, have every zone entry result in a HDSC and a goal.  I could go on and I am only slightly exaggerating.

Here are their results this year:  https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/NYR/2024_games.html

They literally had ONE losing streak of more than 2 games.  It was a 4-gamer that started with a SO Loss.  Aside from that, only 5 times where they had back-to-back losses and in 2 of those cases there was a SO/OT loss.

Quote from: Rosehill Jimmy on May 17, 2024, 10:11:23 PMI still find it odd that a shot that hits the iron is not recorded as an official SOG
By rule, it is a SOG if it would have gone it the net had the goalie not touched it.  So, if the goalie does get a piece of it and the puck hits the post, it is a SOG.  If it goes straight to the post, then without the goalie it still would not have been a goal.  The discrepancy is sometimes if the official scorer thinks a shot was going wide, and the goalie gets a piece of it.  Some will rule it a SOG, some will not.

Something seriously is wrong with this organization folks.

I would date it a little earlier than that.  I date it to Kevin Gilbride being made a scapegoat because Mara said the offense is broken. Gilbride developed Eli, as QB coach, and then as offensive coordinator led them to year after year of top ten offenses and 2 SB victories, despite some idiot fans calling him K*i*ll*drive*.  Then the offense had one bad year and they scapegoated him.  I think of the Giants' woes since then as the Gilbride curse.

* why won't the editor let me type the name he was called without changing it to Gillbride??

Quote from: Ed Vette on Today at 10:34:47 AMYou're missing the point when you think this is all about Daniel Jones. This is about a diatribe attack by former high-profile player and the voice of the NYG's radio game announcer against the fan base to voice their displeasure over fan's comments about one player. A player who has not made a difference in 5 seasons. No diatribe when fans wanted to tank the season. No diatribe with all the shots at Evan Neal. Etc...

This is a very transparent effort to get fans behind the decision not to draft a QB. It's not only damage control, it's not good business to attack the customers. I won't bore any of you with ridiculous attempts at comparisons. You can make them yourselves.

This is a conservative organization that has accepted mediocrity and bad teams by giving parameters to their GM's, and placating the fan base by burning through 6 head Coaches including Spags. While never doing a proper rebuild. Here are the plain facts:

The team over the last 10 years has a 37% winning percentage. Just wrap your head around that for a minute. the record is 67-111-1. The point differential over that span is a minus -782 points. 8 of those 10 years the team finished 3rd or 4th in a 4-team Division. That's 80% a bottom-half finish against three other teams. POW!

After all that, the expectation from at least the fans here is that we are looking at 6-7 win season in the third year of Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll. So what happens next? Wash, rinse, and repeat. The day Tom Coughlin walked off that podium in a farce retirement after being thrown under the bus, was the day this Franchise went downhill. Now that deserved a resounding diatribe.

Something seriously is wrong with this organization folks.

What he said.

I watched the game last night, and saw that play, Ric. I never did hear the actual official explanation, though I didn't look around for it. My assumption last night after seeing several replays, not shown in this short clip, is that during his pitching motion his left foot briefly lost contact with the pitching rubber, a question O'Neill also asked.
