I agree on the give me wins sentiment Philosophers but I have to take issue on lucky v strong wins. I never played pro sports but I was a small cog in a talented team that won a national schools rugby title (my school's only one ever) here in UK. The team included 5 schoolboy internationals and two became adult internationals (1 England, 1 Ireland).

We squeaked a 15-12 win with a dismal performance in the round of 32 against a team we had beaten by 40 points earlier in the season. I stunk. Most of us did.

We were so down when we came off the field but our coach (a former England international) told us see it for the gift it was and to make the most of it by going on to win it all. We were 100% focused every game from them remembering our good fortune and won 4 consecutive games, the last 2 as the clear underdog, to win it all.

Sometimes the lucky wins create a platform for future stronger wins. We will see this season if the feeling and experience some of our younger guys got from those late season wins help them grow and compete better this year. I know it can happen. Not a given but no win is ever a waste in my opinion.

Sad, Poignant, Unfixable

Its amazing that humans have never learned to drop the weapons and just enjoy their limited time on our planet as fellow residents on this beautiful blue marble.

Im old, have seen many epochs of war having somehow escaped the free trip to Vietnam (high draft lottery number).....I thought it (war) was dying down and yet its only gotten worse in this new century.  Heaven help us. Truly

You, along with many here, have bore witness to life and experience, not merely on a national scale but an entire global, where your message rings even louder and more powerful.

To state that humans have never learned is to dismiss those who have given their hearts, their efforts and, sometimes, their lives, in the name of peace. I understand your global statement, and the frustration behind it, but we should never quelch the indomitable spirit of those who tried, even at the expense of their own lives, to further the cause for peace.

For I have known many who are honored on this day who gave of themselves not to answer the call of a draft card, but to answer the burning passion within them to make a difference in this world. For it this day we mourn their loss, but rejoice their cause, and their legacy will live on because they made a difference.

Peace!

It was unreal. Not just the play itself but the deftness and explosiveness of his rush up the ice on the left wing that preceded the play.

This guy was very good in the second half of the season and has been awesome in the playoffs. I'm starting to feel like the Rangers are short-changing themselves by not having him on the PP1 unit.

Drove from my home in Upstate, NY to Neillsville, Wisconsin (more than a thousand miles) non-stop on Friday, then drove back non-stop on Sunday, arriving this morning about 7AM. I am getting too old for this stuff. Been sleeping almost all day

For those of you who travel RT 90 and have been to Cleveland, you are aware of the 90 degree turn on a major highway where people have been averaging 80 MPH for hours. All the warning signs, flashing lights, and rumble strips and there was still a major car accident early this morning that set me back an hour. And Google Maps kept feeding me "alternate routes" that didn't work because officers with flashing lights stopped traffic from going the direction Google (and Garvin...tried them both) told me to go. They were all giving out false information. Getting lost in Cleveland at 2:00 in the morning is an adventure in itself. Going through Chicago in the middle of the night on Friday worked well...especially since it's Memorial Day weekend. Still, quite a bit of traffic, but nothing like I've dealt with in the past. I timed it so that I would go through at 3:00 in the morning. On the way back, Google warned of an accident in Chicago and gave an alternate route that worked, albeit about an hour longer

Anyway, just felt like bitching...friggin beat and my age is showing

People criminally underestimate the value Tyrod brought to the team.

For Spags and Bill B it also helped to have a hall-of-famer at their disposal on defense for over 30 consecutive years!!!!  1976-2007.  Carson -- LT -- Strahan.  I've never researched to see if there is any other team that can make that same claim (or longer, even), but it's gotta be up there as extremely rare, if not singular.

Quote from: BluesCruz on May 27, 2024, 03:48:37 PMLOL ok whatever.....Taylor had the best arm of the bunch but had decision issues.
I don't get the non-issue part though

Do you see Tyrod returning somehow?  The Buffalo guys loved Tyrod and grossly overpaid him
You have no idea what you are talking about. Tyrod Taylor led the NFL in BTTR last year. Meaning he completed the hardest throws with the highest value of any qb in the league last year.

It's the reason that Devito was benched. Tyrod Taylor was easily the best option we had and it wasn't close analytically.

1st graph shows just how good tyrod was vs the league in big time throws.

2nd graph shows EPA after being adjusted for how bad a qbs pass protection, skill players etc and you can see how big of a difference Tyrod was vs Devito.

John Fox was not top 10 but he was pretty good I'd say.
