And go...
Tough matchups in this game.
That said they're not better than the Bills, and this is a home game, so let's see what happens.
Adoree is reported out along with Neal.
Quick three and out and the boos are already starting.
So predictable offense
Both offenses start out poorly
I've seen enough! Off to do some Xmas shopping.
Defense may have started waking up
And man McFadden has become the real deal
Defense showed up today
Geezus
I don't feel confident at all with Gray returning punts.
Is that another one of these Australian punters that are tough to catch?
Get Gray off returns FFS.
On a side note DAMN I like these uniforms.....I with we just went with them here on out
For some reason, Giants TV feed is on CBS, not Fox. Local CBS game is Bills vs Patriots, so I have to listen on NFL+ to Popa and Banks. Trying to get it on my phone.
Gotta be a game for the D-line to feast today
QuoteI don't feel confident at all with Gray returning punts.
Neither do I. I don't understand why they insist on forcing that square peg into a round hole.
I missed the first drive , I was too busy playing Spider-Man 2 and lost track of the time ... defense looked good ...but was first drive a 3 and out ? I just saw Taylor running towards the sideline and throwing it away
Hyatt!
Nice deep ball by Taylor to Hyatt!
Opened things up for Barkley on the next two plays after being bottled up all game to this point.
Shows how effective it is to take deep shots like that.
Two things that have killed me
One refusing to use Hyatt more until we were 1-4
And Lemieux being forced to start
Sometimes pride has to be put to the side
That hit was borderline suspect
Ahhhhhh
Say it ain't so, Gano.

True but I'm ok with that mistake. In the heat of the moment you don't know where the guy's balance is and you can't risk letting him take off with it. Not the worst rookie mistake I've ever seen.
Quote from: jgrangers2 on October 22, 2023, 02:16:24 PMI know he's not gonna think like this, but Hyatt should have just let that dude pick it off
I was going to say that, thing is, instinct from Hyatt is to break it up.
If that would've been a McKinney tip and MCFadden pick 6 that would have been a backbreaker
Does that count as a .5 sack for Lawrence and Thibs ?
Thibs racking up numbers even though most think hes been underperforming lol

Definitely not a mistake either. The basic instinct there is to break up the pick so can't really blame him for that. I also love Tyrod throwing that ball up in that spot too. Worst result is basically a good punt.
Thibs didn't get up and celebrate with Dex. Strange imo
Let's get at least 3 here .. make it a 3 score game

I'm not going to directly blame McGaughey for the two muffed punts or a missed FG, but it's yet another game where specials are hurting us. It's part of a broader narrative that has been going on for years. I don't know why it continues to be tolerated. That unit needs a change in leadership.

100% not Daboll's fault that Shepard and Barkley turned the ball over. Without those two turnovers we win either 17-0 or 21-0. Don't know how you can say Daboll has been out coached.
The win notwithstanding, this is a bad team. From some of the coaching to some of tbe players, just a bad team which is not improving. Last year was an aberration. I just don't see considerable improvement on the horizon.
You don't win much in this game without a killer instinct.. they should have ran all over this team after 14-0, but they choked and froze up!!!
Technically, it's a win but hardly a cheerful one except, perhaps, for the Defense. Two things were made obvious today which are that Taylor is no more than 2nd string and the Oline is no more than a Division 2.
Don't switch the channel... PJ Walker from Elizabeth hopefully leads a comeback win !

And in my opinion the Special teams is a weakness, worse that the offense.
Taylor had a great early first half then fell off hard
One thing Jones needs to do that Taylor does ... is throw the ball down field
When the O-line because to collapse Taylor starts doing the same thing that Jones does... is run for his life ...Jones just does it better
Still though Jones is being paid to be the starter ... throw the ball down field ... take a shot

304 total yards, 2 TDs and 0 TO...give me that every week.
Considering how awful the ex-Skins were..it was a underwhelming second half that still left the offense and special teams lost.
My hope is they get healthier for next week. But losing wasn't a starter today for Daboll. He needed it badly.

Quote from: Ed Vette on October 22, 2023, 04:59:08 PMShould have had 24 points no thanks to Saquon and Gano. Best full game QB performance by a Giants QB in years.
Thibs left 7 out there also.
We had 30 plus points in us, minimum 27, and screwed up.
But,we made some individual howlers and overcame them so that's a positive.

I think the Washington front woke up and got the measure of a patched up O line.
Yes, Dabs defo called plays based on our D having a handle on things going the other way, but Tyrod was running for his life in the second half.
I understand what he was doing, but it helped give life to Washington. First down runs that went nowhere set up the three and outs.
See this is where the anti-Jones fans get me
I have been more critical of Jones this season then the past and I acknowledge some things that Taylor seems to do better
BUT
There is an obvious double standard ... now suddenly TOTAL yardage and zero turnovers is a good thing
Jones did BOTH last year at a good level
Jones issues last year were NOT Total yardage the biggest complaint from the anti jones fans were his passing yards
Jones did not only account for a bulk of the Giants TOTAL yardage during many games last year he also accounted for quite if bit TDs
All due to his legs aka giving him TOTAL yardage and TD's
Let's not be hypocrites now

Fine, just consider TT passing yards; in two games, he's on pace for 4,071 passing yards, 17 TDs and 0 Int, which is objectionably better than anything we've seen over the past five years. I will take 280 yards passing, 2 TDs, and 0 Ints every single week; in short, by any reasonable metric, TT had a very good game.
BTW, TT only produced 25 yards with his legs; he won todays game with his arm, which is an oddity for Giant fans and perhaps why you're confused, Kill..

I have been saying Taylor has not been terrible
But we can't act like Jones from last season wasn't helping Giants win these games

Yet, this season was absolutely predictable. DJ is what he is...
We have 200+ yards passing the past two games. We have only broken 200+ yards passing in consecutive games 1 time in the last 37 games and that was to losing efforts against the Seahawks and Cowboys last year.
I don't know anyone that has ever had an issue with the total yards. It has always been the lack of a passing offense. The dink and dud vs the deep ball.
We only threw over 200 yards like 6 times all last season, and now we've had it in consecutive games with a 2nd string qb and a shamble of an oline. So there should be no excuse why we arent throwing for 200+ every game.
Look at the better Qbs in the league, they are throwing for at minimum 230 yards but more than not throwing 300+ yards a game. That's what you need in the NFL today to win. It's a passing league, so if you can't throw the ball you won't win many games.

Oh I know. I was just commenting on the Offense but since you mentioned Thibs, I think the problem was he never choreographed a pick six celebration and his subconscious didn't want to shade his brand.
Quote from: madbadger on October 22, 2023, 06:23:44 PMYou mean Simmons?
Simmons could have with a sack but it was 4th down and an incomplete pass so it really was of no consequence.
Thibs was gifted a pick-6 and decided against it.
While a win is great I'd like to see a divisional victory over someone other than Washington. Good to see these morons wake up and finally use Waller. Anyway, onto the Jets.
Not really sure I can call yesterday a "WIN". You can say they scored more points. But, in reality they both lost. Just that the Giants lost a little less than Washington.
