Called this.

You cannot pay a guy that DID NOT deserve it.

Clearly, this decision did not sit well with the roster.

Kayvon checking himself and going to the script about how HE believes is diamond pudding proof.

Wasn't there a weird continuity issue where the offensive line looked waaaay better playing with backups instead of the $40m Superstar QB that never does anything wrong and it's EVERYONE ELSE'S FAULT???!?

I vaguely remember this and mentioned how that affects grown men playing pro sports.

Every single one of those guys went through hell to get to where they are. Nobody coddled them.

Especially at the pro level. It's the most bizarre thing I've ever witnessed. Blows my mind.

(Shoutout to the Baker. Some teams do be forgetting that you need to WIN.

There's only so many medium Pepsi)

On top of that, you have an owner playing favorites with grown men and choosing THE WRONG GUY LOLOLOLOL

Know what that does??

It created a culture that is ME FIRST, team second. 🤡 Extremely difficult to undo.

Could have been the opposite. They could've shown the entire roster (bum QB included) that they're loyal to their players that EARN IT.

A one eyed mule could've made better roster decisions with that $40m.

Rule of thumb is it takes 10 years to undo this sort of Quarterback mistake.

Doubling down and paying the mistake $40m was a bold decision. Must say.

Totally unacceptable/unbelievable/unabashedly stupid

Long road to keep the streak alive by 2029...

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Mike Lombardi on QB leadership
November 28, 2023, 01:30:48 PM
Quote from: katkavage on November 28, 2023, 12:38:22 PMThe best leaders do it on the field. They win. They do what it takes to win. They don't have  be rah rah. They don't have to yell, scream, cajole, whatever. If you are a nice guy, hard worker, a good teammate but you just can't get it done on the field, how is that leadership? Walk the walk, don't talk the talk. That's it.

This! 👆

And, if I may, I'd like to add, excuses.

Ohhh the excuses!!

Leaders don't make excuses.

Leaders don't need to have the entire MSM in unison, creepily enough, making excuses FOR YOU.

The list goes on.

"Excuses are the hole from which this franchise must dig itself out of."

Nitpicking 1st Round QBs that didn't work out is easy work.

Most difficult position in all of sports, maybe second only to the goaltender position in hockey to draft and develop.

That's why QBs are drafted as high as they are and really shouldn't be a reach when selecting them. (i.e. Giants 1st pick, 6th overall in 2019)

The Giants have WHIFFED on nearly every 1st round pick since 2005.

Philip Rivers/Eli Manning being their most obvious best selection.

That's nearly 2 decades of ineptitude.

I would argue the Giants biggest need is competent ownership and not much will change, otherwise.

There's a rule of thumb that botching a 1st round pick, especially at the QB position, can set a franchise back 10 years.

Yikes.

I really hope there are no multipliers.

DRAFT A QB.

Running it back, as is, would be negligent at this point.

Daniel Jones.

Nobody will know how to call plays for him better than the legend himself.

Daboll is a class act.

Wink is a class act.

I expected nothing less from these 2 pros and honestly knew deep down the Glazer "report" stunk worse than the Giants have at QB the last 5 years.

I wonder where he got his "report" from?  /sarcasm/

Genuinely wish Brian Daboll, Wink Martindale and Mike Kafka the BEST of BEST and look forward to their next football roles/endeavours.

They all deserve so much better and hope they continue to elevate their careers and find sustained success. (ELSEWHERE, obv)

I hope nobody ever shakes his hand again LOL

They should get this Devito kid signed long term with a low dollar per year average.

That way they can afford to renegotiate the Danrel Jones contract, extend him, and give him even more money per touchdown.

$50 million per year, or $3.33mil per TD sounds fair. Who says no??!?

With the new Burrow and Mahommes deals done, Danrel is being criminally underpaid.

The key is obviously getting the right deal done with Devito.

That way Devito can continue to play QB for this franchise and the owner and fanbase can continue to make excuses for why Danrel can't do what Devito does.

WIN / WIN

:surrender:

An Undrafted Free Agent rookie QB, that lives at home with his parents still, and is being used for clickbait and cheezy feel-good commercials, is outperforming our $40mil a year QB in every single stat or metric relevant to a Quarterback.  Redfaced

If it hasn't already; let that sink in...

Big Blue Huddle / NGT: Aaron Rodgers
November 14, 2023, 07:08:06 PM
Aaron Rodgers did his weekly spot on the Pat McAfee show and ... once again ... the Pat McAfee show is talking about subjects NO OTHER SPORTS SHOW cares to tackle or even mention...

Why do the media focus so heavily on how bad the Jets/Zach Wilson are and there's not even a peep from the media about how bad Daniel Jones is in YEAR 5 and how bad the Giants are as a team?!!!

Greg Olsen during Sunday Night Football said the Giants barely had their starting QB this year; he said that as an excuse for their poor play.

He obviously did not watch Giants football during the first 6 weeks and/or was clearly mindlessly reading the words written for him.

(IMO)The narrative control around the Giants is strictly about coaching and the lack of success the coaches are having.

Bono to Bozo.

Color me shocked  /sarcasm/

This is where it's impossible not to acknowledge the meddling.

We've entered anonymous sources season and wouldn't you know it, the anonymous sources magically line up with the owners intentions and are diametrically opposed to reality.

Some of the segment is tongue in cheek. With that said; there is some truth to the message, obviously.

Well worth the watch.

Have to hand it to Pat McAfee and crew; credit where credit is due.

The Pat McAfee show is the best sports show in the business today. For good reason.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants QB tryout
November 07, 2023, 05:50:44 PM
Quote from: DaveBrown74 on November 07, 2023, 12:28:34 PMI don't personally want the Giants to rattle off meaningless wins now as I really want the best possible QB prospect we can get, but it's weird to me that nobody in the league wants Carson Wentz. I totally get that he was a huge disappointment relative to expectations and has had some injury issues, but no way he's worse than some of these names drifting around like DeVito and Eason. I mean Wentz had an 80 rating last year and a 94 rating the year before, and he's 30. Weird that he's not at least a backup somewhere. His career numbers are better than both Jones' and Taylor's.

Is there some unmanageable personality flaw I don't know about? It just seems weird that this guy is not on a 53 anywhere.

For whatever it's worth, as I understand, Carson is very religious.

A polarizing characteristic in the most normal of times.

In 2023 ... maybe that's the deal breaker.

Full disclosure; I hope it isn't.

The Giants will not sign a QB that could potentially make Dan Jones look even worse at football than Dan Jones does currently.

Our QB play must have you pining for the glory days of ... *checks notes* ... the 0 touchdowns, 140 passing yards/game & losing by double digits Dan Jones barnburner era.

Otherwise, ownership would effectively be admitting what a negligent idea it was to pay him $40 mil annually.

Admitting their mistake? Not this ownership group. No, sir.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: DJ contract disaster
November 07, 2023, 12:39:17 PM
Quote from: Uni on November 06, 2023, 12:49:18 PMDJ will have been paid $84,750,000 through 2024

CMP    ATT    CMP%    YDS    AVG    TD    INT    LNG    RTG
108    160    67.5    909    5.7    2    6    58    70.5

That's over $42 mil for each TD, and over 93,234 per yard

:boooo:

Even before this AWFUL contract was signed his stats were beyond poor.

With that said, looking at it like this should certainly cost SOMEONE their football job (or role within the franchise 🤞🤞)

Blows my mind that people quip about firing Daboll, but, Schoen needs more time...

Wud?

BONO to BOZO amirite?

"Yah but by next year, Joe Burrow will have signed and reset the market. That $40mil per season will just be average QB money. It's gonna look like a steal of a deal!!"

Nope. Never was. Awful from the get go.

Clearly a contrived, hand crafted, media driven narrative likely designed by the teams PR.

This contract is the medium pepsi of the NFL; a total joke.

The proof is in the pudding.

Quote from: True Blue on October 15, 2023, 11:31:08 PMAgainst one of the better defenses in the league, with a patchwork OL that got shuffled again after more injuries tonight, with the same receivers, at the very worst, TT looked just as good as DJ

But imo he is more poised, and looked better, plus he was able to take some shots downfield.

How did he have time to throw when this OL has been so historically bad?

I just don't see enough of a step up to warrant the extra money spent on Jones

Completely agree.

The argument that the offensive line is historically bad should be put to bed.

They battled a very good d-line with a guy that hasn't played football in a year and had almost zero time to prepare.

That same guy took snaps at left guard and finished the game at LEFT TACKLE.

IN THE NFL. 🔥

Blocking Von Miller isn't like picking up a bicycle after a year 😂

Props to the big boys. On both sides of the ball. D-line had their best effort tonight as well.

Best game they've played all season.

I can't figure out what's different but that was fun to watch.

I think it must have been Pugh's stability. Clearly the missing piece.  :surprise:

WHAT A GAME 😀

He stinks.

Today, he stunk.

For the last 5 years he has been stinking.

If you're still in the work force, can you imagine showing up to work everyday, and hearing how awful you and your coworkers are ALL THE TIME?!?

Except for Daniel.

No. In fact, YOU'RE the reason Daniel's metrics are so bad.

Is there a single person that wouldn't at least be a bit resentful?

Is there another player in league history with a red carpet of excuses longer than Daniel Jones?

Yet, if you watch these meaningless games, guys like Evan Neal, and Glowinski, and every other person maligned for our league worst Quarterback play are still BATTLING.

That's moxie.

I want guys like that on my team (maybe not starting in every scenario).

The desire to quit must be so strong in that locker room. Half the team already has.

Yet these guys get back up and take beating after beating knowing they'll get beaten again if they open the paper or read the news online.

I don't buy injuries either.

Every team deals with injuries. Pro bowlers are born through the next man up mentality.

This is why guys PLAY HURT.

No one in the right mind is playing hurt so they can end up being an excuse for Daniel Jones.

It's pathetic, really.

Are they tanking for Arch?

Something about the timing on the term of that TERRIBLE contract is piquing my interest.
