I posted this in another topic, but it really doesn't fit there. Fire away!

NFL Draft, NY Giants style / Re: Joe Mixon
March 08, 2017, 03:10:52 PM
There are going to be players in the 2nd and 3rd rounds who might have been first rounders in other years. The second tier of RBs are very good and there are a lot of them.

Tier 1 (1st day)
Leonard Fournette
Dalvin Cook
Christian McCaffrey

Tier 2 (2nd day)
Donte Foreman
Samaje Perrine
Brian Hill
Jeremy McNichols
Joe Mixon
Wayne Gallman
Alvin Kamara
Elija Hood

Personally neither. I hope that we can sign Fassano as a FA.  He's young, great blocker, and already an NFL starter.

I really think that it is truly a crap shoot with anyone other than Howard at the TE spot.  We can't afford crap shoots right now.  Eli only has a couple of decent years left.

IMHO...Cid
That's an incredibly sober and reasonable position Cid. I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants do not draft a TE at all.

Give me Jordan Leggett from Clemson later in the draft.

Mixon would be talked about with McCaffery and Dalvin Cook if he didn't have the history. No one is arguing his playmaking ability and I think he will be well worth a late round pick for someone. However, after McAdoo's recent statements about wanting players with a "clean" history, I don't see him landing here. He may fall and then clean up his act to become a pro-bowl caliber player a la Vontez Burfict, but I don't believe that will happen here.

Mike Mayock questions wide receiver Mike Williams ability to get generate separation. He says the reason could be a lack of speed. This dovetails  into Williams refusal to run the 40. It's believed that he'll take several weeks to work at improving his 40 speed for his Pro Day workout. A 40 time in the low 4.5's will be huge. If Williams runs a 4.6, he'll be seen as a possession receiver to move the chains that will be fighting for 50-50 Balls, rather than catching balls cleanly with sufficient separation.
Sounds like Laquan Treadwell 2.0, but I think he is more of a Kelvin Benjamin type. I agree, he has to be good at making catches in traffic (which by all accounts, he is) because that is his fate in the NFL with that lack of speed.

It is going to be somebody new. It always is.

2010   Kevin Boss
2011   Jake Ballard
2012   Martellus Bennett
2013   Brandon Myers
2014   Larry Donnell
2015   Larry Donnell
2016   Will Tye
2017 ?????

And that doesn't even count Jerell Adams, Travis Beckam, Darcy Johnson, Bear Pascoe, and others who started from time to time.

Chalk Talk / Re: BBH Game Review Washington at Giants
September 27, 2016, 10:19:33 PM
Nice discussion. Always interesting to hear how others saw the game.

I will say, you and Rich talked a bit about Berhe and how he played but I would argue Landon Collins had his worst game as a Giant. His decision to jump underneath Jackson on the long TD and then a poor angle on the Crowder 55 yard TD on the WR screen were the most under-reported bonehead plays in a game filled with bonehead plays. The Giants only gave up two big plays and Collins was the primary culprit on both. That's the game. Throw everything else out. That's the game, and I'm as big a supporter of Collins as anyone. This is his weakness. Berhe, like him or not, was the best Safety (in the truest sense of the position) on the field. I love Collins' aggressiveness but he can be beaten deep and that was the book on him coming out of college. It showed up Sunday and he - more than Eli, more than Vereen, more than Adams, - owns the biggest part in this loss.

I have no issue with Richburg and when you have a center 15 yards downfield making a block on a CB,..... man, I just loved it. Give me another helping of that. Penalize him. Fine him. I don't care, but start him the next game please. I loved it. Not all fouls are bad fouls. The smack talk to Norman after the play is something recievers do seemingly every play. It wasn't called on Richburg. It was called on the guy who taunted Norman who was being watched. Go Weston. As Agassi would say, attitude is everything.

BBH Baseball Board / Re: Ted Williams

His hand-eye coordination was second to none. After his baseball career ended, he remained regarded as one of the best fly fishermen in the world, and eventually became one of the more accomplished ones as well. He would conduct fly casting and fly tying demonstrations that even experts would claim were exceptional. There is a Game Fish Hall of Fame, and he was inducted into it about 15 or 20 years ago.

Some new answers to the old question; Why did the chicken cross the road?

To get to the other side.

Who knows? Why do chickens do anything they do!?

To prove to the possum that it can be done.

Because sitting in the middle of it seemed like a bad idea.

Crack.

Nick Saban - 5 year gig. He retires when Eli retires

Apparently he said he would consider the New York Giants and one other organization if Alabama wins the National Championship this year.

My father traveled a lot for his job and had some stories that were often very funny.

Once when he was flying home to Newark he boarded the plane and found himself sitting next to a very attractive young lady with an infant in her arms. As he told it to my mother; "The plane started to take off and the baby started crying. After several minutes the baby was screaming with tears rolling down his face. There seemed to be no consoling the child and everything they tried failed to calm the baby down. Finally, the young lady unbuttoned her shirt, pulled out one of her breasts from her bra and began nursing the child in full view."

"There's nothing wrong with that." my mother replied. "What did you do?"

My father replied, "I started crying too."
