Lenn, when you were out that way, did you get to Horseshoe Bend? For those not familiar, it is in Page, Arizona, north of the Grand Canyon, near the Utah border. It is about 1,000 feet down, with no railings or fencing at the edge.

This guy had the right idea!

I handed my camera to someone to get this one. Yes, I was close to the edge. Yes, I sat down and inched over to it.

Beautiful images, Lenn! I visited Monument Valley about five years ago, and it really is a beautiful place!

For a price (I don't know how much, I didn't ask) he would let you sit on the horse and take your photo. When there weren't any takers, he would take the horse for a short ride.

The Forrest Gump road.

We took Jake, our Australian Shepherd, to the beach today for the first time. He loved it! Got to run and chase a ball around, although the "fetch" part still needs some work - we got a work out retrieving the ball after he would chase after it then return without it.

Notice the ball he left behind...

We're in the Outer Banks, and one of the first places we stopped was Bodie Island Lighthouse - it's one of my favorite places to shoot.

And Jake the Aussie...

There is no way that we are going on a plane to meet some woman who be a crazy, sick lunatic! Didn't you see "Fatal Attraction"?

"All I'm saying is that somewhere out there is the man you are supposed to marry. And if you don't get him first, somebody else will, and you'll have to spend the rest of your life knowing that somebody else is married to your husband."

"When Harry Met Sally"

I think I got the order right - I knew they were from those movies, but I wasn't certain which was from which.

As I had mentioned, we went out to shoot the Conjunction last night without much success. We were at a local park, at a beach on the lake. It was crazy windy, and I couldn't get a stable image. I've tried that technique hanging something heavy off the bottom of the tripod, but I don't think that would have helped much last night.

I did get a few wide shots.

Tonight, the wind was gone, and I was able to see it from our backyard. We grabbed our gear and started shooting...

And here's a bonus shot of the Moon tonight.

I haven't gone through my photos yet, but I don't know that I got much. We were in a local park, at a beachfront on a large lake, and the wind was blowing something awful. I did get some wide shots, but my big lens (Canon 100-400mm with a 1.6x teleconverter) was acting like a sail, and even on the tripod I was having trouble keeping it steady. We tried a couple of different spots, but couldn't find anywhere out of the wind with a view of the sky.

'old movie lovers'

Are we "lovers of old movies" or "old people who love movies"? Wait - don't answer that!

And we need one for Jim, so this is an oldie

"The world changes, but two things remain constant... Youth and Beauty. They're really one in the same thing.

Yes. The trouble is, people grow old.

Not everybody. The only people who grow old were born old to begin with."

The Bishop's Wife - I love that movie!

Hope we get some good weather. A few of us are making plans for a relatively dark spot near Charlotte. Fortunately, it will be visible shortly after sunset, so we won't have to be out all night to catch it.

Care to take a shot at the other?  Holiday movie, comedy, 1996

I won't give it away - I had to Google it, I've never seen that movie.
