The wind will keep blowing, the xxxx will keep flowing, while they, Orlosky and ilk, will keep mowing. No reason why we should start toeing.

Cheers!

If we're all in on Ward this year after being picky about the QBs last year, we are in bigger trouble than I thought. Yeah, let's pick the best QB of a below average draft for QBs this year because we're desperate. Good plan.

Which is why going BPA at three and taking a "developmental" guy later makes more sense. It might not give us as much hope but it's better for the development of the roster. I am not a fan of Rodgers and the last thing we need here is the circus he brings, but I agree with this thinking.

I don't think it's necessarily fair to Ward to say well he's not Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels or even Drake Maye to some last year, so hes not worth the pick.  The fact that there were as it turns out 3 excellent QBs last year shouldn't somehow make Ward a worse player.  Ward based on my own meager evaluation probably slides in with JJ last year around QB 3 or 4, but that's with 1 and 2 being truly special prospects.

Ward is excellent.  As a passer he might even grade out better than Daniels at this time last year, he just lacks the crazy athletic mobility.  I think whoever takes Ward will be very happy with the pick. I would rather the Giants not have to give up a 3rd rounder to get him, particularly when all they really had to do was lose ONE MORE GAME vs the Colts last year and he'd have been their QB for free, but I do think he's going to be pretty good right out of the gate.

For me, I think best case is Hunter or Carter at #3 and then trade back in to get Dart at QB later in the 1st.  If they're going to trade up I'd rather they do that than trade up to get Ward and lose out a potential starter in the 3rd round.  But I also like Dart a lot, whereas Daboll and/or Schoen may not.

My problem with Milroe is that unless he takes a major developmental leap to be a true throwing QB, I feel like what we may get from him is 16-23 for 115 yards and 7 carries for 52 yards.  Those stats look awfully familiar.

My mistake with Milroe was that I saw him in 2023 games and early 2024 and thought he was really developing, however, it simply stalled then he had some bad games.  As a Michigan fan, I already had to watch one elite running QB who could not throw in Alex Orji.  I do not want a repeat of that.  Give me someone who does not think twice about throwing the ball because he's done it very often and his mechanics rarely break down.

He should have gone to Oregon, miami or Oxford for a year before heading to the draft.

That sure seems like the common sense thing for him to do.  I get that he may not enjoy college life.  He's 22 and maybe college life doesn't hold the attraction it once did.  Still, if he was realistic in his assessment of himself, he could see that he needs to further refine his game and that refinement is best accomplished by staying in college for another year.

Richardson, like Milroe, had tons of natural talent but he wasn't ready to play in the NFL.  As a result, Richardson's NFL future is questionable.   I can see Milroe going down a similar path.  Even if you sit Milroe, how much will he learn to improve and refine his game as an NFL backup?  Outside of training camp and PS games, there will be limited opportunities to hone his skills in live action.

So I totally agree with Jess, he should have stayed in the college league for another season.

I think your evaluation is more optimistic than the ones I've read, where they wouldn't put any of the guys from this year ahead of any of the guys from last year.

And let's be clear: messing up a first round QB evaluation sets you team back at least four years. We just finally got out of it.

I'm no expert.  But from what I've seen he can be a little bit reckless, so that does lead to some dangerous throws/turnovers. But the kid has guts for days. They got Jones to stop throwing INTs but they did it because he basically stopped throwing anything but dumpoffs.  You're not getting that from Ward.  And with guys like Nabers and Hyatt on the outside I'd take a couple crazy throws if it meant getting those guys to realize their full potential.

I believe we could trade down and pick up some assets and still be able to draft Dart. Otherwise, I want Hunter.
From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Andrew, the problem with a trade down is you risk losing Dart.  I am not sure I feel as comfortable with my plan B (draft Schough, McCord or maybe Howard)

Rich,
I believe we could trade down to 7 or 8 (maybe get a 26 #1 as part of the haul if it's the Raiders wanting Sanders) and still get Dart.

The Jets and the Saints are lurking in the neighborhood.  I couldn't rule them out from jumping the Giants for Dart
