What happens when the QB carousel stops spinning?
Here's where the game of musical chairs stands from a Giants perspective (and mine): if Justin Fields re-signs with Pittsburgh, Daniel Jones re-signs with Minnesota and Sam Darnold goes to Seattle, I think the Giants land Aaron Rodgers.
If any of those first three scenarios goes in another direction - it'll be a bit chaotic in terms of what happens next.If Rodgers ends up in any of the other cities besides East Rutherford - and ESPN's Adam Schefter dropped his name in connection with Pittsburgh early Monday morning - I think Giants will end up with Russell Wilson.
If it's not Russ, I don't know what the pivot will be.

He's been my choice from the start. If not him then a Minshew type journeyman.

So is the thought here that even though the Steelers traded for Metcalf, who had his best years with Wilson, they are not going to keep Wilson?

Have a hard time thinking Fields is their top choice.  Would understand if Wilson is not retained, but would be surprised if Fields was the top of their depth chart heading into camp

I think it's between the Steelers and Vikings for Rodgers. It depends on what the Vikings do with Darnold.

Adam Schefter with the latest on the QB position with the Steelers: "Aaron Rogers is an option in Pittsburgh. Now I'm not telling you it's going to be Aaron Rodgers, but they're talking to Justin Fields, but Justin Fields is talking to the Steelers and Jets and Russell Wilson is there and they just traded for DK Metcalf and there's Aaron Rodgers. So the Steelers could take this a few different ways. Now Justin Fields is interesting because again I think that they have been interested in trying to work something out, but I think Justin Fields wants to see what other options are out there most notably the New York Jets and he can't really make that decision until after the negotiating period begins at noon today. So Pittsburgh is going to wait to see what he does, but at the same time they know that Aaron and Russell are out there and I say both of that because I think they're both in play." #Steelers #NFL

The bottom line is that we are likely to be last in line when the carousel stops spinning, because we suck as an organization.  This is just another effect of long-term ineptitude- absolutely zero veteran QB prospects chomping at the bit to come here.  They'll come here because it's their last chance to start in the NFL....that's it.  That's the whole reason.  And they'll exhaust all other options of doing this prior to signing with us.

It's quite obvious that any veteran QB who signs here is only starting for this season, barring any injury to the drafted QB. They know they will be Kurt Warner 2.0. They won't get a long-term deal. That's the case regardless of how the organization is viewed.

"We're going to build this thing the right way... I'm not going to do a Hail Mary for self preservation. We've got a plan in place and we're going to stick with that"

This was the obvious outcome once they had to exit the awful Jones contract.

I'm not sure what anyone else was expecting.

However, if we can get 2-3 years out of Rodgers (and he plays like last year or a little above) I'll be happier as that will be the best QB performance since Eli.

But ultimately, this is the outcome of backing the guy who wasn't the guy.

That's a lot of words for "I don't know what the Steelers are going to do at QB".

Wow.
For Toomer to publicly say that about Schoen. Whoah! Not good for Schoen
