Quote from: T200 on Today at 09:48:32 AMWhy do we need a top line FA QB?

We need a veteran who can run the offense, throw the ball downfield, and mentor the rookie. To me, Wilson and Winston fit the bill just fine, with as little drama as possible. The Giants need to stay off the radar and out of sight as much as possible. Bringing in Rodgers comes with additional pressure and ensures we get talked about every single week, good or bad.
I don't know if you didn't watch Wilson's final couple of games including the playoff game but he's shell of his former self and couldn't go through basic progressions. I remember @MightyGiants and I discussing how even the announcers of the games kept bringing up that Wilson was refusing to go through his progressions. That would make for an extremely long season for us. Same with Jameis Winston, who as I stated earlier hasn't thrown for 2,200 yards in 6+ years, plus he throws picks in his sleep, which will make for a really long season also.

Because we likely aren't taking him at 3 and he won't last until our 2nd rd pick. I don't see schoen moving back into the 1st.

We don't need them for a good time or a long time. Let the rookie sit and learn for a year then let him start in '26.

Many of us already knew we weren't going to be in a position to even sniff the playoffs in '25. Continue to build the roster, acquire talent, develop the young QB, and be ready to roll in '26.

I am completely on board with getting a garbage qb ala Wilson or Winston if the goal is to draft a Qb in 2026 but schoen and daboll are trying to keep their job and I doubt a rookie in this class can win now. So the likelihood is that they take a swing at qb that isn't Winston, Mariota, or Jimmy G.

The fact that BD & JS have to show improvement this year, having not been glued to DJ and not throw away the season for 2026 to have a 2026 is far too easily overlooked.

Schoen: Hey Brian. Our asses are on the hot seat and we need a QB that will help us keep our jobs.
Daboll: I agree. Who should we go after?
Schoen: How about Rodgers?
Daboll: BRILLIANT!

My thoughts exactly

Philosophers

Folks keep thinking of players in their prime as opposed to what they are now.  Russell Wilson is 25% of what he was.  Aaron Rodgers is maybe 50%.  Age has affected both greatly.

I'd rather have a young QB like Fields where maybe Daboll can mold him differently than other HCs did and we get lightning in a bottle and have a young QB.

Funny post!

For me, Tyrod Taylor would've been the ideal guy if they would've kept him.

... and he graduated from Stanford, where IMO a college degree still has "full" value. Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Agreed... Tyrod should have been kept last season. But it would have invited more calls to bench Jones sooner. Then, Mara would still be disillusioned about him.

Oh well, water over the dam.
