Never fear, the TORTS will be returning shortly.

Mark it down....in ink.

Here's my question.  I'm sure there are several reasons for the bad season.  I'm wondering what you think of Shesty's play.  He made spectacular saves but then more soft goals than he used to.  Is it possible that the main difference between this year and the past few years is goaltending.  In the past few years, he bailed them out.  This year, he didn't. Second, if his play did decline, do you think that in prior years, he was playing for a big contract.  Wouldn't be the first time, performance declined after getting the contract.

DB74- I would love to hear your thoughts.

NB,

I actually haven't watched as much Ranger hockey in the last six to eight weeks or so that I normally do, and that's not just because they have been disappointing. I have just been busier in general than normal, and since they haven't been good at all, I haven't felt motivated to make the time to prioritize them.

I've watched enough though. I agree that Shesty has been disappointing, but our D is also terrible from what I have watched. Losing Trouba and Lindgren is obviously part of that, but it wasn't great when those guys were there either.

Meanwhile the rest of the team is just lifeless. Our vets are clearly on the decline, and our young guys just haven't been that impressive. Out of all of them, Cuylle has probably been the brightest spot, but it's not like he's amazing.

The Rangers need to be dismantled and rebuilt with new leadership. And this time Dolan needs to stay out of it.

The promising start to this season was done in with a cold, hard, slap in the face by the Panthers, which they never recovered from.

The disgraceful performance which followed was capped by a penultimate victory against the same team, same building.

After the Bolts put them out of their misery tomorrow, let the necessary changes which have to be made, be made, and rebirth this team with young, fiery kids who love the game and WANT to send their opponents a message on game day/game night.

The ship has sailed on this group. Two wins and a goal away in the semifinals, twice, was the best they could do. I will always keep last season's team as a favorite as they were exciting and, at times, inspiring.

But it is time for them to tear down and rebuild. The sooner they do, the better.

All the love for Sam Rosen. Classy gentleman. A pillar for 40 years and was a perfect commentator to fill the late Jim Gordon's seat in 1984. He will be missed.

So another season draws to an end. I suppose it is wait and see for what happens to the head coach and GM. It is crazy if another change after two seasons take place. But this team never seems to surprise anyone anymore.

Peace!

Unlike the Giants, the Rangers have been a fairly stable, well run franchise for most of the past several decades. They are rarely truly embarrassing (like the Giants now regularly are). With that said, the Giants have given me four Super Bowl wins (and a fifth appearance) in my lifetime as a fan, whereas the Rangers have only given me one (plus one appearance). So there's that.

This year was the worst Rangers season in a while. I guess maybe the Dave Quinn era comes to mind.

To me Drury absolutely has to go. He has been an awful GM in my view. Name one really good thing he has done. I can name countless bad things.

No surprises there.

And it also won't be a huge surprise if the guy who is more deserving of being fired (Drury) is spared.

Couldn't believe they hired him in the first place and then he goes and wins the Presidents trophy last year.  I don't know if it was him or what the deal was but they won a million games last year and with mostly the same personnel spent of the year embarrassing themselves.

If they can somehow get Sullivan I'll be pumped.

Local paper had article listing 8 possible candidates.  Sullivan was one but he is under contract for the next two years.  Others include Torts, Quenneville, Peca, Tocchet, Woodcroft, Carle and Jay Leach

While I'm not saying Lavvy probably didn't need to be replaced, if they're planning on keeping Drury in charge of the front office, no Ranger fan should expect anything resembling material improvement anytime soon.

Laviolette has won a cup and taken two other teams to finals.  Need to be replaced?  Maybe.  But what has Drury ever done to deserve any more rope?

That's exactly my point. Drury is useless.
