McShay reports in his latest pod that the connections he has built over 25 years are reporting a split in the Giants building in reference to Sanders.   He is hearing that most don't want Sanders at 3, but there is a person or two on the personnel side who are pushing for Sanders at three.   This is the Joe Schoen side of the house.   McShay didn't know who the individual(a) is.

McShay also said John Mara is staying out of the debate for now.

Like I've said, the risk is big to both pass on Sanders as well as take him at 3. If Sanders is successful next season and the Giants flounder with no QB of the future on the roster, that's the end for Schoen. If he takes Sanders passing on Carter and Carter become all world and Sanders is a bust, it's the end for Schoen as well. He's looking for the safest bet and that would be taking Carter at 3. The problem is, after Sanders, there is no QB of the future to find in this year's draft.

I will say that if this report is true, I hope to hell they don't draft Sanders.  Forcing a QB on a coaching staff, especially one of questionable talent, is not likely to work out well for the team.   To me, it would be beyond foolish to ignore Daboll who you hired as the QB whisperer.

Dissenting opinion is healthy.  It means the system is working.  Schoen just needs to make the decision.

The whispering has not been effective in his three years as coach. And I think Schoen doesn't care anymore about Daboll. He probably feels he was fortunate to hang on this year.

I agree, I am of the belief you should not force coaches to have players they do not want. Or at the very least the HC

I was listening to NFL radio on the way into work this morning, and they were talking about this very thing.  When you force a player onto a coach, the coach isn't really vested in trying to make things work with the player.

Obviously that would be the case.  Not to mention do the people pushing for Sanders understand that it would likely cost them their jobs no matter how good he ends up being and they won't be around to watch him start a game?  I don't know who could actually be banging the drum to take a QB who will be 3rd on the roster over a pass rusher like Carter who has every chance to be the next Parsons.  It makes no sense.

I can only think of three people with enough juice to make this an issue (at least in my opinion):

Joe Schoen
Chris Mara
Tim McDonald

Don't think it's Schoen cause he's fired if he does.  The other two guys are likely in a position where even if they clean house those guys stick around so I could see it being either or both of them.  Not to mention they might both be very bad at this.

Why are folks assuming it is a senior person/people with a different view?  It may he a position coach, regional scout, etc.  This is a non-issue.  Should be different views then a leader decides.

It's not a coach, because McShay said it was on the personnel side of the house.   I doubt a regional scout would have enough juice to go against the coaching staff and the rest of the personnel people

This line from Schefter is the buzz that has been picking up steam lately: "There is a belief around the league that certain segments of the Giants organization want Sanders more than others."

Makes it impossible to nail down their plan because they are likely still hashing it out

Rich - folks can disagree and someone hears disagreement and concludes dissension and McShay gets that info.  Too much jumping to conclusion.

I just posted another insider reporting the same thing.  I tend to think that if it were a lower-level person, like a scout, pushing this, it would have been resolved already.  For things to still be up in the air this late in the process, it has to be one of the three I listed (who have enough juice to stall the process and trigger a late QB tour)
