I am very unhappy about this Drury extension. This guy is such a yes-man empty suit whose number one agenda is preserving his job, rather than doing it well. I just hate seeing mediocrity rewarded, which is exactly what is going on here. Dolan likes having a sycophant around him, clearly.

No first round pick after a playoff miss is insult added to injury too. Meanwhile our vets are all stiffs and over the hill. None has any value given their bloated contracts, and that's if you can even move them which of course they need to approve and often aren't willing to because being on this team is such a cozy, soft existence.

People should prepare for this team to be bad for a while now. Any window they had with this group is closed. It's going to be like the early 2000s again. I think they should probably trade Shesty at this point and try to at least get some stud 18 year olds into the system.

Incredibly disappointing, isn't it Steve? I know my post may sound highly negative, but it's simply the reality of what I am seeing. This has been so poorly managed.

Dolan allows Leon Rose to do what he wants on the Knicks, so I'm not sure why Drury has chosen to be such a docile, milquetoast sycophant. I really get the impression he is just happy to be in this role and would rather shoot for longevity in it by kissing his boss' ass than by actually making tough and sometimes risky decisions to really improve this team and position it well for the future. It is such a shame that JD and Gorton got fired over some dumb blowup argument about the Tom Wilson/Panarin incident. They were doing a tremendous job in my opinion. They took a bad team, gutted it, and built it back up to contention from the ground up. That takes balls, patience, and strong judgment. I am not convinced Drury possesses any of those traits as a GM. I think he is a skillful politician who knows how to placate his boss and how to cast blame for disappointments away from himself and towards others. That may work for him and his family, and it may be enough to keep Dolan happy, but it doesn't work for us fans or the players.

Not a hockey expert by any means but didnt Dolan do something similar with Sather.  The Rangers were bad for a long time and Sather seemed irreplaceable.

As to Lavy, for much of the season but especially down the stretch, the team did not look like they were playing for him.  The opponents always seem to try harder in the corners and have many more shots on goal.

DB74- did you say the Rangers don't have a 1st round pick this year?

Rangers have to give Pitt their 1st round pick either this year or next.  It is top-13 protected and their pick will wind up 11-13 if they do not win the lottery.  They have up until 48 hours before to declare if they are forfeiting the pick this year or waiting til next year.  My guess is they will keep this years with the expectation next year they make the playoffs.  Honestly, not worried about the 1st round pick.  They pretty much ruin all of them going back to Manny Malhotra.

When I saw the tweet about Captain Little League was extended, it ruined the good mood I was in from the Mets using the brooms.  My first thought was,, "A little late for an April Fools Joke."
