I feel like this is a backhanded slight to Schoen/Daboll, basically saying: "They've never had a concrete vision for this team." And I disagree.

Even just this last season, I think it was pretty clear how they envisioned the team: a downfield passing attack that could get ahead and let it's pass rushers (bolstered with the trade for Burns) go after the QB. One half of that equation failed to materialize (and indeed was not close to a workable version), but that doesn't mean the vision was unclear.

To a limited extent, yes.  I qualify my answer because two picks doesn't tell you all that they're thinking/planning.

On the other hand, since QB is the most important position, it does reveal significant aspects of their plan.

(1) Their plan has nothing to do with contending this year.
(2) What Daboll wants/thinks/believes is important to the Giants.
(3) They plan to keep Daboll at least two years, inasmuch as Dart is a two-year "project."

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

People here have used Hard Knocks as evidence that Schoen didn't have a plan. Looks like Tiki was of the same opinion.

What people are seeing now is that Schoen is committed to his plan and is effectively tuning out Mara and his band of merry meddlers.

I saw RGIII saying the Giants have no idea what they are doing after the Dart pick and I realised that whilst I did not like trading up I still did not agree with him at all. It does feel like the GM is trying to do what needs to be done to create a Giants team we can all recognise. A punishing pass rush, big play passing potential and a running game as our backbone. If I am right expect more LoS help and another RB to be added with different attributes to Tracy.

Any in depth, legitimate strategy or intel was never going to be aired, it was always going to be like that regardless of what team did it. It would put the team doing it at an unfair disadvantage.

I never understood the use of Hard knocks to critique them.

Basically this.

I said at the time, there were too many conclusions being drawn from 44mins of entertainment for a month.

Nothing I've seen/read since then changes my mind on that point.

Was this off-season a plan or just a reaction to mandates?  John Mara, the owner, said he was tired of watching the defense allow other teams to march up and down the field and that the number one priority was to get a young QB for the future.  All the moves to this point seem to be addressing those mandates

The Giants identity has always been best historically on defense..4 supes in my lifetime..okay? That's their identity of success...destroy you with a terrifying d ..okay..start there..then we're talking competitive bad news problems for teams.

I mean..I have total respect for Bobby...he loves lineman..trench warfare..but the Dart move was bold and a litmus test. We can still get a DT and a OL..depth. I'm hopeful so far.

Only two sides of the ball

After last season it would be hard to not imagine the Giants beefing up the defense; regardless, of what Mara said or didn't say.

Mandates also coincidentally address the teams biggest needs, minus DT I guess.

Would you say the needs of the team were not addressed?

It's the first time in years that it feels like the team is headed in a direction of forming a solid program. They were in limbo for several years hanging on to Daniel Jones in an effort to salvage his career. Lots of bad off season moves and drafts that finally started turning around last year.

It's exciting when a QB is drafted for the future. I felt it in 2004 and 2019. I feel it now. Let's hope that Jaxson Dart goes the way of Eli.

Some needs, the O-line wasn't really addressed and likely won't be to any significant degree

I read his tweets and they were well considered. I get why he feels that it doesn't make sense to sign two former starting quarterbacks just to burn capital to add a third that, barring injury to the other two, won't play at all this year.

For the veterans in this league it is always a win now league. A guy at the tail end of his career doesn't care about the two or three year picture. The same can be said of coaches desperate to keep their jobs. They care about next year and Dart is irrelevant to next year. A defensive tackle, receiver or offensive guard would have made more sense to a guy looking through the lense of a former NFL veteran.

Personally I love the model of letting a guy handle the transition out of the limelight, especially a guy like Dart who has been somewhat hidden by Kiffin's scheme. It's going to take him the better part of a year just to learn an NFL play book and how to play from under center.
