I will use Bobby Skinner's top 10 for 2024

Bobby Skinner
@BobbySkinner_
Giants Top 10 Players in year 3 of Joe Schoen as GM (my opinion, make your own)

Dexter Lawrence-Gettleman Draft
Andrew Thomas-Gettleman Draft
Malik Nabers-Schoen Draft
Brian Burns-Schoen Trade
Bobby Okereke-Schoen FA
Kayvon Thibodeaux-Schoen Draft
Darius Slayton-Gettleman Draft
Jermaine Eluemunor-Schoen FA
Tyrone Tracy-Schoen Draft
Wan'Dale Robinson-Schoen Draft

For 2025

Dexter Lawerence
Malik Nabers
Andrew Thomas
Brian Burns
Abdul Carter (projected)

Now the next 5,, I will do two different ways

First PFF grades (with some flexibility

Dru Phillips
Russel Wilson
Jermaine Eluemunor
Wan'Dale Robinson
Bobby Okereke

Now there are players with the potential to push their way into the top 10

Cam Skattebo
Jevon Holland
Tyler Nubin
Kayvon Thibodeaux
Tyrone Tracy

On paper, there appears to be a significant upgrade in talent (or at least the potential for such) over last year's team

Forgot Paulson Adebo and Chauncey Golston as options. I will throw Deonte Banks in there as well, I've seen tape of him online with a new haircut working his ass off daily, and I expect a huge jump this season vs #2 Wrs.

Last year, after the first 4, you were really struggling to find guys worthy of the "top 10 talent" label.  This year, it appears there could be competition for the top 10 title

We've been so caught up in the draft that I did a refresher on our FA guys by doing a few highlights.

Jevon Holland

Arthur Dimukeje

The internet isn't fond of Dimukeje highlights so I'll put this here instead.

"Victor Dimukeje had a Pass Rush Win Rate of 22.2% in 2024 which was 5th in the entire NFL in 2024.

Also a 90.0 Pass Rush Grade on True Pass Sets which is 10th in 2024 and a 44.4 Pash Rush Win Rate on True Pass Sets which is 3rd in the NFL in 2024."

Jeremiah Ledbetter

I agree, which is why I was actually excited by the schedule. Almost all the teams we face this year got worse and did not add talent.

Darius Slayton might be a sleeper, he isnt liked by many, but with the QB upgrade he could have a career year.

Jolly Blue Giant

#6
An oft forgotten player who I'm high on, is Elijah Chapman aka, "Baby Bison". 5'11" / 285 lbs and in the top 10 percentile of DTs for speed, top 25 percentile in 10-yd split and a 31-inch vertical jump...not to mention, he put up 32 reps of the 225 lb test. He is the strongest and the fastest DL on the Giants team. And he's tenacious and plays like an angry honey badger with his hair on fire. Being shorter, he's a problem for the offensive linemen to stay low enough to try and handle. He is going to have his day sometime in the future and a valuable piece of the defensive line

I'd love to him try a goal line as a RB

Anyway, I like him and hope he gets playing time this year. He's fun to watch

I am with you Jolly.  Love this kid and hope he develops further as a top rotational player.

Another thing that doesn't get mentioned often is that Schoen has honestly done an amazing job structuring contracts so that we have the next several years with a core of about 20 guys that are great to elite. I think Golston, Adebo, Banks, Phillips, and Holland, really take a next step because they will have an elite line to work with.

This front 7 just looks nasty

Thibs / Okereke / McFadden / Burns

Golston / Dex / Alexander and/or Chatman

With Carter playing all over, and some vets for solid DL depth

I believe the run down defense will vary a lot to the the passing down defense. For instance I don't think McFadden sees the field despite on running downs even though he's gotten better year on year since he's been in the league.

I think the team wanted Ledbetter because of his ability to plug the hole and he's got a reputation as a run stopper. They'll probably rotate him with Golston and Chapman when they want to disrupt the passing game, and run with Ledbetter when facing teams that run the old school style of picking up 3 or 4 yards on the "pound and ground" game. Alexander will be interesting to see how he does with run stopping. We know he can get after the QB when not doubled. We also picked up veteran Roy-Robertson Harris, whose specialty is an excellent "run stopper". Should be a top front line this season. Lots of options

Alexander I believe had the 3rd best run stopping grade in college last year. I may need to double check that but pretty sure it is accurate. That and Carters grade was respectable around 78. Should be much improved, plus I like Ledbetter a lot more than most, specifically on running downs.

Genuine question:

We added at minimum 6 immediate impact players, with 3-4 having the potential to be elite in free agency.

We follow that up with 5 immediate impact Rookies in the draft with all of them having a high ceiling.

That's 11 new starters out of the possible 22. Yet evert ranking post draft has us in the bottom 3 typically. I understand having to see it to believe it, but most have stated we have the potential for a top 5 defense with an actual NFL starter at Qb. I dont think its a stretch to think that on paper, in my opnion, we are better than the Browns, Jags, Colts, Jets, Falcons, Panthers, Patriots, Saints, Titans, Cownoys, and Raiders.

Fan optimism or new reality?
