#1 Jaxson Dart NY Giants-
Considering the adjustment he'll have to make transitioning from the offense he ran at Ole Miss to a pro-style system, Jaxson Dart landed in a pretty good spot in New York. Giants head coach Brian Daboll did a spectacular job developing Josh Allen over multiple seasons, and the Giants signed two veteran quarterbacks — Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston — to ease the pressure on Dart to start right away.

Dart may have led the FBS in passing grade in 2024, but he won't have to rush into game action before he's ready.

What do you think? Is another Qb in a better situation?

Looking at all those others on the list, wow those are really bad situations. Dart has time to learn and a decent O-line and Nabors. I don't know about being bullish on the rest of that situation. But it's light years ahead of those others. The kid with the Saints has some skills and talent to steal that job, the coach and cast suck though. It's pretty rare to get a shot that quick at qb drafted out of the first round. I really hope Dart becomes a fan favorite. Seems like a cool kid, I like how he seems to get a long with people of all ages. Most kids that age can only talk to their peers. I just hope he can play. We certainly have some parts here for him to utilize.

No, I don't think so nor do I care about any of the others.

Jaxson Dart was my choice from Silly Season Day One. What I did not anticipate, and so am all the more pleased, is when and where Joe Schoen chose him and the quality of the veteran QBs from whom he will have a chance to learn.

I can even think of his being coached by Daboll as an asset. And not sorry to have to say it but where Our Heros are concerned, one of Dart's big pluses is that he is so many ways the opposite of Daniel Jones.

Cheers!

Jess,

I was sort of disappointed in this article.   I read all the rankings, and they seemed all over the place in terms of the criteria used.  They didn't seem to have a single set of criteria, but rather just picked and chose in and some cases were conflicting in what they valued.  Like with Dart, they considered being buried on the depth chart as good, while with other QBs it was bad.

To me, it's a matter of how good the 3 pillars of support are for the QB.

How good is the HC at developing and getting the most out of QBs?

How well can the team protect the QB?

How well can his targets help the young QB by getting open consistently, by catching the ball, running their routes correctly, and making contested catches?

When it comes to the coaching QB development, I am inclined to give BD the benefit of the doubt and consider him above average.

When it comes to protecting our QB, that's a let's see when AT returns, how well he plays, and if he can stay healthy?  Let us see how the rest of the O-line (along with the TE/RB blocking) does.

Finally, Nabers should be Dart's best friend very quickly.  Beyond Nabers, I am not sure I would consider the remaining group much more than average.  Cannonball Cam should add to the RB receiving, our TE group is sub-par (with the potential to be much better), and the WR group outside of Nabers is below average (in my opinion).

It's why I am all in on trading for an elite #2. Free agency, and the draft leave a lot to be desired next season, and I think an elite #2 puts this offense in an entirely different bracket with the 2 headed running attack, and Theo Johnson, who if healthy I think really explodes this season.

Jess, much like with AT, I am concerned with Theo's foot injury.  Foot injuries requiring surgery are less than ideal for NFL players.  I have heard conflicting information about Theo's injury. Some described it as Linsfranc, while we also have this report (which suggests it's the same injury I suffered when getting hit by a car, and a year late,r my foot is not the same)

QuoteI broke my fifth metatarsal in the Thanksgiving game against Dallas, so I had to have season-ending surgery on it. I'm doing great with recovery. I'm almost cleared and a few weeks out from being fully cleared. My rookie year came to an end, but I'm back in the right direction now. Jan 16, 2025

There were rumors that the Giants tried to acquire a TE in free agency, and clearly, they drafted one (albeit in round 7).  So that's not a great sign that the Giants feel fully comfortable about Theo's recovery, as a healthy Theo gives the Giants a pretty solid TE room (or at least one that wouldn't have them looking to add more).

Kyle Pitts

I have to confess, I don't get the reference  :-??
He's referring to Kyle Pitts being the subject of a ton of trade rumors. He's going into year 5 and could be an option for a team needing a TE.

What do you think is the best way to add offensive talent quickly before the start of next season? I know next offseason that the FA TE, Tackle, and Guard market is going to be huge and we should be able to stockpile if necessary. Another good thing from having that surplus in FA is that Eluemunor could possibly be cheap if we are trying to retain him. The skills are what I am most concerned about as the draft seems light on Wrs but the TE market is going to be loaded next offseason.

Jess,

Considering the Giants need about $20 million in cap space and have less than their full complement of draft picks, I believe the Giants' opportunities for adding talent are limited.   At best, we can hope for another Greg Van Roten-level signing.  That's my best guess, but the Giants could always surprise me

We can always find something to fret about, but I am not concerned at all about Schoen struggling to find the resources, aside from the usual NFL team sleight of hand, to be able to further strengthen the roster when OTC estimates a cap increase of $28-30 million in 2026.

Cheers!
