Way too young to go...you just never know    May he R.I.P. Sounds like a great guy.
You can never actually lose a homing pigeon - if your homing pigeon does not return, what you've lost is a pigeon

Sad, but what a great life this guy had. I respect guys like him who come from wealth, do all their school and start working at the bottom . He was a scout, held almost every job in the front office, worked his way to GM. Really interesting career. Had some issues with substances, was in a band. Had a really great life. Did what he wanted. Gave LOTS of money to a lot of causes too.

That's a sad surprise. I wasn't even aware he was ill.

Keeping his family and loved ones in my prayers this evening.

May he rest in peace.

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)

A few months ago I saw him on tv and he didn't look well. He did own Tiger, one of Jerry Garcia's guitars. RIP

When I got the news last night that Jim Irsay had passed away in his sleep it was devastating to me. The Bible says in many places that tomorrow is not promised to us but I wasn't ready for this.
Jim was one of the kindest, most compassionate people I have ever known. He was awesome to me and my family. He was a blessing to his players and staff. But more than that he had a heart for people and for the city of Indianapolis. He loved people and did so many things for others—more things than you could imagine.
I miss him already. He was a special man and I couldn't have worked for a better owner. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

RIP Jim. You were quite the character..had addiction issues that I feel compassion for. Did he have children?

Died way to soon.

I believe he has daughters (or at least one daughter)

RIP. I knew he was ailing and had only been seen in public very sparingly but this is still a shock.
From all accounts he was a great guy.
Aside from his football life, I know he had a remarkable guitar collection. But, unlike a lot of collectors, he didn't just keep them under glass like museum pieces, he would actually play them. He would also invite other people to play them too so they could share in the joy of playing a unique instrument.

I think I read he has three and it's expected that the oldest will assume principal ownership of the team

So often now when I hear that someone has passed away peacefully in his or her sleep, I begin to recall the words composed as a vocal accompaniment to the 2nd Movement of Antonin Dvorak's 9th Symphony in E Minor " From the New World"

GOING HOME

Going home, going home
I am going home
Quiet like, some still day
I am going home

It's not far, just close by
Through an open door
Work all done, care laid by
Never fear no more

Mother's there expecting me
Father's waiting too
Lots of faces gathered there
All the friends I knew

I'm just going home
No more fear, no more pain
No more stumbling by the way
No more longing for the day
Going to run no more

Morning star light the way
Restless dreams all gone
Shadows gone, break of day
Real life has begun

There's no break, there's no end
Just living on
Wide awake, with a smile
Going on and on, going on and on

Going home, going home
I am going home
Shadows gone, break of day
Real life has begun
I'm just going home
