Enjoyed the film breakdown. RG/RT could be the spot for him. Great seeing Abdul Carter towards the end of the video. That spin move! the guys going to be a monster. Marcus Mbow needed help

I don't know why they are starting him at Guard, because Tackle looks to be his ideal position at this point in his development. It's clear how much better his feet, hands, and reaction time are than Neal.

Ed,

I heard reports that said they are using Mbow as both guard and tackle

I was going off what Daboll said after he was drafted. Maybe they quickly realized it was prudent to work him at both positions. One of the things that GVR didn't mention was the body type and workout regiment required for Guard is very different than Tackle. He would need more weight and strength at Guard and that could be detrimental to his speed and fluid feet.

I still hear Mbow being pronounced differently. I thought it was official that it was Bow, as in Bow Wow doggie. But Bobby pronounced it Bo. As in Bo Jangles. What is it Rich? If a podcaster mispronounces a player's name, it takes away some of their credibility. Justin pronounced it weeks ago as M-Bo.

Mbow's play deserved better than the mid-5th-round.  Reports I heard suggest position is the issue with him.  He has 32-inch arms, which is an inch above the desired 33 inches and above for tackles.  As a tackle, one of Mbow's weaknesses is that he isn't very strong, even by tackle standards (Guards tend to be stronger than tackles).  So moving him to guard, where the shorter arms wouldn't be an issue, is problematic as he doesn't have (yet) the strength to hold up to those big, strong defensive interior guys.

Center, it is speculated, to be his best position.  Centers don't have to be as strong as guards, and the arm length isn't an issue at center

The way I usually hear it pronounced is 'Bow', like in 'bow and arrow'.

In the film I saw, arm length didn't seem to be an issue at Tackle, as he used his hands well and was quick to the punch. His hand size is acceptable. I think he would need a stronger core to play center as well as Guard, but I agree that might be a good position for him. His feet and lateral agility would be a nice asset.

According to Schoen his arms measure 33". They measure from the shoulder to the end of the middle finger. I think that's a poor way to measure because it depends on which shoulder they measure. From my experience in men's alterations, one shoulder is lower than the other in most men, as one leg is longer. Ig the payer has long fingers, that plays into the equations.

I was saying leading up to the Draft that I think he could be an All-pro center. If he's forced to play guard or tackle then I hope it is tackle because he's so athletic and never bet against athletic olinemen, they may need a year but usually figure it out. There was talk of him in the early 2nd, supposedly he would have gone 2nd but some had him as a medical red flag. Every comp I see for him is always Zach Tom, and if we get that we've hit a grand slam.

I felt so dumb having called him EM BOW (like bow and arrow) for months, when I found out, lol

Based on his feet, I'd take him today as a back up swing tackle over the massive and strong Neal (who I hope excels at guard). with slow feet. If he gets bullied at tackle, you can give him a year to get stronger before committing to center.

I believe that's correct. Also think the "m" is silent
