I don't know if this has any meat to it, and right now the TE room is full, but the talented 6'6 4.4 40 Pitts would be the best TE in that group by far. Pitts is open to a trade and I would give up a third round pick to bring him in if he had a couple of years left on his contract. He's on his 5th year option.

1) The Giants don't have a 3rd round pick (gave it up to get Dart)

2) Why are the Falcons so eager to get rid of him?
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

Pitts has been really underwhelming. He's a 50-600-4 type guy, and that's when he's not hurt. Maybe he can get a little better than that, but that's what he has been through four years. Someone will overpay him due to name recognition.

Actually they are not aggressively looking to move him.

He has been the Pitts as a Falcon. No thanks. Lots of FA TEs .next off-season if they decide to upgrade there.

Need to improve the skill personal at WR and TE unless we get a major boost from Johnson and Fidone. Not holding my breath on those two

You nailed it.  All the athletic ability you want but he's not mentally strong or highly motivated.  Lived off his athleticism alone in college.

I'd trade for him I'd it was a 6th or 7th, it's like he's the Isiah Simmons of TEs. A change of scenery could be good for him. I live in the south so they force feed saints or Falcons games and I don't remember Pitts being thrown at ever.

Being force fed Saints and Falcs is a tough watch..almost as bad as Jets/Giants here...

He had more yards than Slayton last season and had over 1000 yards his rookie season. His catch % is low to his targets. When is the last time a Giants TE had over 600 yards? Almost as many receiving yards as Engram in one less season with the Giants. He would be 6th all time in TE Receiving Yards for the Giants behind Engram by 225 yards, and as many receiving yards per game as Engram.

It's not happening because they need a big Receiver more, and the TE room is full.

Why give up on Theo Johnson so quickly unless his Lis Franc injury is worse than it appears.

Pitts was once talked about as the second coming. He turned out to be the second coming of Evan Engram. A good example of why it's not worth getting too excited about draft picks before they prove it on the field.

This is why I have to roll my eyes when I see young fans talk about our draft picks as if they're all can't miss. After a few decades of watching guys who on paper should be elite, but turn out to be major disappointments you start to understand just how difficult the draft really is. More picks will fail than will become big time players.

Here's how PFF praised the pick after the Falcons drafted him 4th overall:

The Falcons take the best non-quarterback in the draft with their selection of Florida tight end Kyle Pitts. He is going to be faster than any linebacker or safety and bigger than any cornerback. He enters the NFL as already one of the biggest matchup nightmares for a defense. His 96.1 receiving grade, 0% drop rate and above-average run-blocking grade in 2020 make him one of the best all-around pass-catchers we've seen in a while.

The top teams usually have two top tier WRs. Giants have find a tandem next year with Nabers.

TE can wait for next year if need be. Pitts has been a major disappointment... yipes no...

Painter

As the Falcons decided to pick up Pitts' fifth-year option, he is owed $10.88MM in 2025 which would make an expensive addition and almost certainly require at least a short extension. He has not done enough in his past three seasons to warrant anything of the sort. And why at this stage would you want to make a deal that might force your Offense to justify the decision, the investment? It just not where this team is right now, I don't think so, I'm a NO vote.

Cheers!
