Malone wore out his welcome with the Nuggets players.  Think he would do the same.

I'm also struggling to see how Kidd would be an upgrade over Thibs. In fact, looking at these two men's body of work as head coaches side by side, he looks like a downgrade to me.

And it's not like it's a small sample size.

Just because someone was a good, smart player doesn't mean he's a good coach.

I heard differently, that Malone's real problem was that he had worn out his welcome with the front office...which kind of sounds a little like the Thibs situation. Players liked him, front office didn't (at least Dolan anyway...and he's the man with the open wallet)

Another shot off the bow, this time from Rick Pitino when asked if he'd like the job. "'Absolutely not,' Pitino said when asked if he'd have interest in the Knicks job, via ESPN. 'I think whoever comes in, if he doesn't get to the Finals, it's going to be deemed an unsuccessful season. So, whoever comes in has got so much pressure on them to take this team to the next level, 'cause that's why they're doing it, obviously, in their minds.'

Pitino publicly saying that he has no interest in the job, then going on to seemingly warn any head coach considering making the jump that the expectations will be outlandish, is about as bad an outcome as James Dolan and the New York front office could have had."
You can never actually lose a homing pigeon - if your homing pigeon does not return, what you've lost is a pigeon

I agree Jeff.  I dont like the premise that Kidd helps land Giannis.  Bad reason to pick a coach.

I think what Pitino said is assumed by everyone.  Finals or bust!  I never trust Pitino when he says he's not interested.  His style of play would be like the Pacers.
