I've seen plays in the past where the ball carrier uses a ref for a pick. Ref working madly to get out of the tackler's way and not be part of the play, but the runner shifts, forcing the ref to be used as a pick and gets extra yardage. Sometimes you catch players being savvy. My favorite was watching Tiki take it to the house the length of the field, with a tackler catching up with him. When the replay zeroes in on Tiki's eyes, Tiki is watching the big screen in the end zone like a rearview mirror, and just as the tackler makes his move, Tiki shifts directions and sheds the tackler like he had eyes in the back of his head. Sometimes it's the little things that usually go unnoticed that makes football entertaining

I loved watching Gary Reasons play with those great Giants' defenses of the 1980s. From his rookie year in 1984, he always had a knack for finding the ball. He may have had more interceptions than any Giants linebacker during that era. His precision hits were textbook; squared shoulders, plow through the ball carrier, destroy whatever is in your path. Easily the most unheralded of the BBWC, he goes down in history for his legendary two plays:

1. The 4th and 1 hoal line stand against the Broncos in snowy Mile High Stadium. His hit on Bobby Humphrey, sending him flying backwards, and his mouthpiece 10 yards into the backfield, will be forever etched in our minds.

2. The fake punt run in the 1990 NFC Championship Game in San Francisco was a thing of beauty.

An unsung hero, he was one of the very best value picks in the 1984 draft. A great Giant for the ages!

It looks like the ref was in his way, blocking him from the ball carrier, so he used the ref, or went through him to make the tackle... man I love our 80s team. Actually, I love the 80s.

No doubt, in today's game it would be a penalty but then, BOOM, what a play. Set the tone for the entire defense.
