Four today. Felt like it was the only possible word for my fourth guess.

I bet @Ed Vette loved today's word 

I got it in 4 after having the 2nd and 3rd letters in place. I said, "it better not be 'xxxxx' as I was typing it in." Sure enough, it was.

 I was scared when my first 2 words turned up nothing.

Got two with the next word and it made it a bit easier having the L as the second letter which automatically eliminated many of my unused letters for the first letter. Once I got the first letter with my 4th guess, it was unusual, but then there was nothing else.

Your pattern was very similar to mine. After three attempts, I only had two green (2nd and 3rd squares) and no yellows. My fourth attempt I had the first three squares in green leaving almost no letters to work with and then the fifth time was a charm. Great minds must think alike

I was less than thrilled myself after going 0-2.  Clearly the people running the puzzle are aware of the tactic of using establishing words and they know what words are popular

Not that I can recall, but to be fair I think I started playing a couple of weeks after you guys started

Four for me today. Fairly easy compared the last few days

Took me five today despite a two green start on the first guess. Mildly frustrating haha.
