You were on to something when you noticed the double letter pattern they've been on lately. I made that a priority in my guesses.

My strategy is to narrow down the vowels first. It works the best for me.

I had a devil of a time trying to figure this one out.  I suspect I literally had eliminated any other possibility than the word, but for the life of me, I couldn't figure it out.  It was brute force all the way
