Big Blue Huddle

That game was painfully long in my opinion.  4+ hours for a football game is too damn long in my opinion.

The overtime added at least a half hour, but yeah it's too long when halftime is a half hour and commercials are extended.

It doesn't bother me. I just look forward to the day when Superbowl Monday is a national holiday and I don't have to go in to work.

But... in three years it won't matter to me because I'll be fully retired!

Retirement is nice.  Im retired 12 now and should have done it 20 years before that.

Game should be played on Saturday since they get 2 weeks between the conference championship and super bowl now.  Problem solved.  Of course...they will never do it because it makes entirely too much sense.

It wasn't 4 hours; it was only about 20 minutes if you are talking about actual football play. Otherwise, its real purpose is to expose both the casual fan and non-fan to an outrageously expensive sales pitch by one recognizable, current or former athlete or another. And yet, except for the "halftime show", it's not much different from the NFL's 3 hours/20 minute preseason, regular season, post-season pocket-picking efforts. Is it?

Yes, it was too long. And way too many camera cutaways to celebrities in the audience. Celebrities should be left for intros and halftime. The rest of the broadcast should focus on the game.

Thank goodness I moved out west so I don't have to deal with that as much. But, as you stated, you have a short-timer's calendar; mine is yours + a few years more so I'm very jealous!

I have no problem with it...of course I'm retired, so there's that. It's the culmination of the greatest sporting competition in the U.S., so the final event of the season is going to be over the top. What I don't care for, is the hours of hype leading up to the game. And I always look forward to the half-time show/spectacle to see if the latest entertainer can outdo the last one. I thoroughly enjoyed it and even got to see Alicia Keys playing an outrageous piano. I've always liked her and think she's one of the sweetest people on the planet. And I had no idea Usher was so athletically talented, especially singing while spinning and dancing in roller skates - that blew my mind

All in all, it was a good night for me...and I always appreciate a close game. There's been years when it's such a blowout that the game totally sucks. Not this year 

Didn't bother me.  If there isn't a missed PAT there is no OT and the game would have ended a little after 10. 

The Super Bowl is what it is and the extended halftime and longer commercials are part of it.  The game is watched by over 100 million people and the networks and NFL make a lot of money from that, so its not changing.  Always feel like the pure football aspect of the playoffs ends championship weekend.

I only watch the pre-game hype when the Giants are in it. Needless to say, I haven't watched it in over 10 years! 

Usher is indeed very athletic. He's an avid skater and posts many videos on his socials. The roller skating community is big in the urban south.

Considering it is the last real football we will watch for 6 months, it could have lasted another hour.

I used to love roller skating, but most of the rinks around here closed years ago. I do know that down south, roller skating is a big deal...or used to be. My aunt and uncle used to roller dance and compete professionally in Tampa when they were young. My mom (she was born and raised in Florida) said he used to pay as much for special bearings and wheels for their skates as some people spent on a car. Sadly, my Uncle Joe passed away a long time ago, but he was an interesting guy. Here's a picture of him back in the 50's when he and his wife were professional skaters...not skating, but a page out of history
