Will we be getting the 2022 Hodgins or the 2023 Hodgins?

Look at his run-blocking numbers.  That is 100% on Hodgins.

His #1 responsibility is to catch the ball. Sure, he needs to be involved in the run game when he's on the field but I'm not gonna ding him because he has less than stellar run-blocking numbers. A man Hodgin's size should have excellent blocking numbers.  Don't underestimate the importance or WR run blocking.  That is usually the difference between a 3 to 4 yard run and a 5 or 6 (or more) yard run.  Plus, Hodgins had 215 run-blocking snaps (against 511), so it's not like it was a small part of his game.

This meh for me, Hodgins doesn't move the needle for me.

Keeping Hodgins is a depth move. He competes in camp. If he shows 2022 flashes then he makes the team and will get some targets. If he looks like the 2023 version of himself he might lose his roster slot to someone unheralded in camp who shines or a camp cut from a better team who offers eg more on ST. He sets the baseline for making the roster.

I'm glad he's back. Hyatt, Slayton, and Robinson are starting WRs with little backup. We have Bryce Ford-Wheaton, who is athletically good, but needs serious NFL seasoning. After him, it's Chase Cota (???), Gunner Olszewski (I don't see him in the game as a WR unless it's an absolute emergency), and Dennis Houston (???). We do not have depth at WR and Hodgins is a proven commodity who has experience with DJ. He's made some pretty (even incredible) catches that I've witnessed with my eyes from the comfort of my couch

I really hope that Ford-Wheaton takes a giant step forward this season. He has the tools, now can he adjust to the NFL 

We need to draft some serious WRs in this year's draft and definitely another pass-catching TE if Waller leaves. We're fixing the line to be a pass-first team, but we need some guys who can catch the ball, and Hodgins can IMO

I actually like Hodgins, but I was disappointed in him in 2023 after being very happy with him in 2022. I'd like to think that since I saw what he was capable of in 2022, as a young guy, he should be able to do that again. Of course, if he is a non-factor again in 2024, that starts to become what he really is and 2022 becomes a bit of a one-off. That sometimes happens with players. I can name other examples.

Yeah, I don't mind him. He's not the answer at the position but given service - he can be productive.

I hope late 2022 wasn't just a blip.

In 2022nhe seemed to have a good relationship with Daniel Jones Football wise.

He makes clutch catches and he doesn't seem to choke. That dwarfs all the so called blocking issues.
