Just a terrible news story. But it sure seems as if we have heard this many times already. It is sickening how many of these young men die either needlessly or foolishly in car accidents.

My deepest condolences to his family. May he RIP
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

The initial report suggests Jackson was just a victim.

The fact that Keith Richards has outlived Richard Simmons, sure makes me question this whole, "healthy eating and exercise" thing

I don't know the precise facts of this case, so the below is simply a general statement:

While being a passenger in a car driven by a drunk driver is not a crime, it is still a pretty regrettable action if one does it knowingly. Obviously, in some cases a passenger might not realize that the driver is over the limit, but more often than not the passenger will be aware that the driver was drinking at least some quantity of alcohol. And plenty of times, the driver's behavior leading up to his getting in the car will be a more than sufficient tip-off.

Again, with Uber and Lyft being such an accessible option these days for anyone who isn't dead broke, these drunk driving accidents should be way down in number. Very simply, the temptation to take the gamble of getting behind the wheel in an impaired state should be much less than it was 20 years ago.

Jeff,

According to the Maryland State Police, Jackson was in a car that was struck by a speeding drunk driver

What a tragedy. So sad. This is a dangerous time for NFL players seemingly. Didn't Giant DT Troy Archer die in a crash around this time of year?

Thanks; understood.

An awful story period. Assuming the driver was definitely drunk, I hope he goes to jail for a long time.
