The Giants are so embarrassing on 'Hard Knocks' no team will ever do it again
We might not ever get something like this again, mainly because it makes the front office look incredibly stupid

I read the article in full.

I think it is a bit of an extreme take, but not without merit. There are plenty of times I have cringed watching various parts of each episode. Having said that, saying "they all look like such idiots" is more than a little bit extreme.

Moreover, I would not myself make the leap that the front office peak brand of Hard Knocks will end permanently because the Giants look foolish in its inaugural series. Teams may conclude that the Giants themselves are fools, rather than concluding that they're not fools, but the show made them look like fools, which would be the only reason a team that views itself as smart would be unwilling to do the show. The author kind of makes this point in the last sentence, and I find that more convincing than the theory that the show will stop after one season because of this.

How does anyone think decisions such as what a team has to make are easy to make?  SB is not a polarizing figure so the go/no go is tough to make as his popularity, leadership and still top 10 at his position render him a challenge to decide on.

My only knock is Schoen looking seamlessly at only SB's production and not at other intangible factors.  Leaders don't grow on trees and the Giants O lacks leaders.

I cannot watch the spectacle in Germany

Can you tell me what is so embarrassing?

So far from what Ive seen (only from episode 1, some clips and podcasts)

1- Daboll comes off as a brutish overbearing dolt....but I already suspected that
From all the red-faced sideline antics....Having said that he does lighten up sometimes too....he is not boring and speaks his mind
2- Schoen finally grew a pair and stood up to the supreme passive aggressive Leader
3- They have too many people in their meetings
4- Schoen drops too many fBombs
5- They do not seem to want to review their reasoning in any detail- smart but boring
6- They need to get an interior design team in there and ditch the 1950s furniture Belichick would love that decor
7- the whole Barkley thing was couched to look like they actually wanted to keep him- they didn't (real football people didn't- not family members)
8- Daboll seems to realize he is getting the short stick in the QB room
9- Schoen loves his iPhone
10- They are trying to improve the Oline, Dline, and running and run stopping abilities- all critical to success
11- Never Ever allow your boss to populate your team with his relatives
12- they desperately want a new #1 QB but realize they are boxed in for 2024 with that horrific contract (but it does have some escape language this offseason)
13- no one ever mentions why Jones has to go

What is so darn embarrassing?  We are fine ::)

What exactly is "fine" about coming off a 6-11 season, losing your best offensive player to a blood rival, and pretty much being one of three or four worst teams in the league record wise over the past decade?

Lets agree to disagree about SB.  I am so pleased to have the weight off the teams shoulders

There is no Trophy for being a "face of the franchise"

The Trophy goes to the best most well balanced teams- which is where we are headed after the smoke clears and two highly highly over-rated players are finally gone.

Philly has cursed themselves.  They will continue their downward spiral

The Giants and Commanders are the 2 ascending NFC East teams now...the whole division is about to go upside down

I don't understand this post at all in terms of how it relates in any way to my post, which you quoted and appear to be responding to.

This author who? argues what?, or as the legendary Mrs. Nussbaum might wonder: You vas expecting maybe Weinstein Churchill? In any case, if you are really going to take all that cockdoodle seriously- it is the rudderless Giants after all, you might at least sprinkle it with a little levity.

Cheers!

BluesCruz

I would say we now have a rudder

will not reach SB this year but we are going have a good year and perhaps great one in 2025

Just curious since you said here in Germany, are you an ex Pat in Germany or are you a German who also happens to be a Giants fan. It would help to understand the context of this and other posts.

IMHO nothing has been "fine" with this franchise since that John Mara let a Reese fire a hall of fame coach instead of firing him. While I feel that having Barkley on the roster wasn't an issue, I think the thought process that led to him being drafted second overall and his elevated to face of the franchise was.

MightyGiants

I think that the final narrative will be based on how the team does this season.   If the team does well, people will be holding up how the Giants did things as the model to copy.  If the team has a poor season the narratives from critics like Mike Lombardi will be considered the correct take.
