#Giants Brian Daboll asked Malik Nabers what play he wanted to call.

Nabers: Let's throw a go ball

Daniel Jones pre-snap: You want to check out of the press [coverage]?

Nabers: Nah. Just throw it up.

Jones: I got you.

I don't think it's humanly possible for me to be any higher on a rookie wide receiver than I am on Nabers. I watched him play plenty of times in college and was always very impressed, and we all know that despite only being 20 years old he holds the all time yardage record at LSU (the school of OBJ, Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase and others). Plus he looked ridiculous in his pro day and is already showing his chops in early camp.

The guy is an absolute thoroughbred stud. I will not be surprised at all if he is widely considered a top four or five receiver in the sport by as early as next season, and if Jones can get him the ball with consistency he has a very legit shot at OROY.

I could not agree more.  The inly thing stopping him would seem to be injury or a maturity breakdown.

He has already made it clear that he's not going to be meek and happy-go-lucky if he's not being fed the ball. It's easy to be critical of this attitude, but I don't get the sense that it's about his stats. I think he wants to win and hates to lose, and it's more about him knowing he's the best weapon on the field, hence if the team wants to win games they better make him a big part of the offense. One can call that arrogance, but it's clearly true. Plus Daboll specifically said in plain language on HK that he loves that attitude about Nabers, and they picked him with full knowledge that he had that type of attitude. Nabers was 100% open with them in the interviews about this. If that was going to be a problem for them they had every opportunity to pass on him and draft someone more docile. They didn't. Dabs cited it as a positive, and Al Groh said without a second thought that he'd take him over MHJ if presented with that choice.

So if there is some strife on the offense because Jones is not able or chooses not to get him the ball downfield with consistency, I tend to think it won't be Nabers who is considered the villain in that scenario.

Not only that, but Brandon Brown (in the lastest HK podcast) talked about how Nabers was always putting in extra work while he was at LSU

President Rick

notice on this clip and several others posted on other threads, Banks is in coverage on Nabers and he's right there with him, and yet Nabers is making those catches.  IMO that's a win-win.  Banks is going to get a lot better guarding this guy, and Nabers is a real talent.

He just has to control his emotions.

True but so does every athlete in every sport.

Outside of Shepard, who pretty much can't play anymore, there has been little to no emotion on our offense. Maybe having a guy who performs at an elite level and doesn't accept mediocrity or losing will be a good thing not a bad thing.

Not to be the kvetch, and I'm as excited and hopeful about Nabors as any other fan, but I want to see him dominate against a good secondary.

Of course but probably easier for Bavaro to control his emotions than Nabers because of how each are wired.  McEnroe had to work harder than Borg.  For those who gave to work harder greater fear that periodically they lose it.

I'd like to also point out since everyone knows I've been complaining at naseau - Daniel Jones 100% actually looks left as he is dropping back to pass and then throws deep right!

Good to see this - I count 3x in clips where I have seen it this preseason. Last year I couldn't say the same.

We shall see

Absolutely agree that it's good to see.

After last pre-season I refuse to get excited when he's in a red jersey.

Fingers crossed though.
