In my opinion, this guy is without question the most exciting draw for this season overall from a spectator standpoint. I think we will see some spectacular things from him on the field.

A not distant second will be the pass rush broadly. That has the potential to be very impactful this year.

Led by "Leek", this receiving core has the potential to drive defenses crazy.  It's up to DJ and the Offensive coaching staff to realize that potential. I mean, what would Mahomes and Andy Reid do with Nabers, Robinson, Hyatt and Slayton?

For this receiving corps to drive people crazy we're going to need to see at least one receiver on this team play at a level they've never played at before in the NFL.

I am treating Nabers as a given. Maybe he will have some rookie mistakes, but this guy is just too elite of a talent to not bank on him being awesome (barring injury obviously). He literally has it all.

Hyatt didn't do anything last year though and Wan'Dale has been in the league two years and has not done much of note to this point either.

Slayton has been around for a while now, and I'd say we more or less know what he is. He's an OK but far from exceptional player. He's at best a number three option on any serious offense.

Wan'Dale has obviously had injuries, so maybe he's the one who steps up. But availability is the most important ability, and he needs to show he can be on the field playing at 90% or better for 15 games or more.

I love Hyatt's ceiling, but he really did almost nothing last year, so I'll need to see it to believe it if the view is that he's suddenly going to become this big time producer. Right now that is the optimistic take, and I'm totally open to it, but I kind of need to see it play out. We shouldn't forget that all 32 teams (including ours) did not feel compelled enough on him to use even a second round pick on him, so expecting him to be the second coming of Devonta Smith may be a bit ambitious.

There are some other supporting players in the mix too like McKenzie, Hodgins, Robinson, etc but I think for this receiving corps to be really good we're going to need to see at least one of Robinson and Hyatt step up their level of production very significantly and with consistency.

Agreed....and I believe Robinson, especially, is ready to pop.  And Hyatt will take a step up, as well, possibly filling a Gabe Davis sort of role.

With Nabers getting blanketed these guys will be open more than they have been in the past. Both can also make plays with the ball in their hands. With a bit better pass protection and if Jones' throws are on target (including the short balls), there is a realistic chance at least one of these two players can take a material step forward this year.

For the offense to really make a leap forward this year though, Nabers is going to have to be a massive part of it, and not just as a decoy. Jones is going to have to be able to hit him downfield and also fit balls into windows in traffic. Let's hope he is able to do that.

You have to remember the Giants were willing to take Hyatt in the second round
There is no reason our offense shouldn't be awesome
Unless it's the scouting , training,  coaching
We have a high  number one draft pick
A 2nd round draft pick
And a 3rd round draft pick that the Giants were willing to pick in the 2nd round

My fear is that Nabers takes all this coverage and we don't take advantage of it. With the coverage Nabers should get, if we go 4 wide there's no reason why Nabers and Hyatt on the boundary, and Wandale/Slayton in the slot that someone should be open.

Not taking advantage of it also means us continuously going short like last season and 2022 despite guys being open down the field.

My hope is we see a lot of 4 WR sets with a blocking TE, and then later in the year move to 3 WRs with Tracy / Miller running routes out of the backfield.

I expect Nabers to generate significant focus from the D but still be good enough to excel. My hope is to see Hyatt and Slayton on the outside forcing the D to respect the deep routes, and then getting creative with pre-snap movement to get Wan'dale the right matchups to exploit.

If he can stay healthy, I think Wan'dale has a chance to really take a big next step. I don't have big expectations for Hyatt, but I think he can be effectively used as a decoy.

Once the young RBs get a chance to settle into the offense and catch up to NFL speed, I'm hoping they, too, can be used creatively.

There's enough receiving talent where they'll have the chance to contribute significantly, but they'll need help.

-- The OL can't continue to allow immediate and consistent pressure

-- Jones needs to take shots downfield and play with the confidence of a 6-year vet

-- Daboll and Kafka need to be creative with formations and movement to take advantage of some of the unique talent on offense

Granted, I'm likely pulling at straws here, but I constantly think back to the second half of the Cardinals game I was in attendance at last season. The Giants opened up the playbook and, if you remember that memorable second half, it started with a Jones to Hyatt bomb that went about 60 yards, and should have been a TD if Jones didn't underthrow him. I believe Jones ran it in a couple of plays later to start the comeback.

My point is that he already has his receivers who can do what you want them to do. Put a Nabers AND a Hyatt on the field together, a Slayton who knows how to run routes, and a TE or HB who can find the open space for a dump-off pass and you're on your way.

But I agree that it comes down to Jones getting all the reps he can with his speed burners so he can hit them in stride downfield. That's hard to do when you've never had such players to begin with; harder when you have to do it under pressure and, more so, when you are coming back from an ACL on your plant leg.

NOW is the time to miss his receivers, make the adjustments and keep practicing under he hits the receiver with the ball 12 inches in front of them in full stride, just like Bill Walsh relentlessly drilled Joe Montana to greatness.

Peace!

I've maintained all along that both a good receiver group and a functional OL are necessary components for a successful passing game, and hence offense.  I have confidence in the former, but until I see it with my own eyes, not so much with the latter.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Not slowing my roll

4 Aces

I'm kind of blown away how good Nabers is.

He's got Cruz's quickness off the line with Nicks' physicality and bear trap hands, and OBJ's gamebreaking ability at the stem.

He's like a perfect hybrid of all 3.

What he's doing to Tae Banks, you aren't going to see very often.

Bob In PA

My expectations are low.

I'm hoping he'll start drawing double coverage by mid-season.

Anything better than that is IMO very unlikely but would be a harbinger of awesome performances to come.

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!
