In all fairness, your comment was a dig at Jones.   It's even an odd time to hit DJ when you considered a big pass catching TE is a QB'S best friend.   QBs love a big target in the middle of the field who is often more open than most and who have huge catch radius.
Rich,

Respectfully... if I tell you my comment wasn't a dig at Jones, you and @Stringer Bell or anyone else don't get to reframe it and tell me that it was.

If you two feel that saying a player needs to improve on an aspect of his game is a dig, wait til the real criticism comes.

QuoteThe larger point is that the thread had absolutely nothing to do with DJ. The OP was about our rookie TE and the dynamic between him and the coach and how the team is approaching his development.

Yet the first response had nothing to do with the TE and, instead, was a dig at what DJ needs to improve on.

The schtick is just tired. When nearly every thread - no matter how off topic - devolves into a "DJ isn't good enough" thread, it degrades the entire board experience and stifles what could be good conversation on other interesting topics that matter.

The QB is the most important Offensive player and quite possibly the most important member of the organization.  It stands to reason why he may pop up in any discussion of the team and its success.

I am reminded of Parcell's quote about not putting a rookie into Canton.   Theo did not have a good day blocking

Of course we have the right to view your comment as a dig.  If not, what was it?  Daniel needs to improve has been virtually the theme of a lot of posters on this board.  Saying something that has been said hundreds of times in a thread about a receiver and how a coach is motivating him was entirely gratuitous.  On this basis we can't talk about any receiver withhout the conversation becoming yet again about Daniel.  To say this has become tiresome is an extreme understatement.

We know Daniel has to improve.  There's no need to bring it into every thread.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

I said what it was and what it wasn't. Sorry if you missed it. And don't bother asking me what it was if you are going to stick with your own answer.

So what if something has been said multiple times? As if no one on this board hasn't repeated themselves in multiple threads. It doesn't make it a dig at someone. But because you're tired of it being posted, it makes it a dig? Miss me with that nonsense.

Now people want to get all sensitive when it comes to Jones? As much as I have criticized his play, I've also celebrated when he does well. I call 'em like I see 'em. Don't agree with me? That's fine. But don't sit there and try and tell me my comments were something that they weren't and aren't.

There are just as many posts about the weak O line being the reason Jones has not been a very good NFL QB as there are about Jones not being a very good NFL QB.

And 99% of the O line posts come from those who complain about the presence of critical Jones posts.

It is pretty much the same pattern everytime.  Someone starts a thread about "Player X".  Someone posts about Jones this and Jones that. Then, someone brings up the OLine and now the thread about the back-up wing guy on the scout extra team turns into an argument about Jones.

I doubt that is factually accurate.
