He was out last year with a shoulder injury and to date he has missed 6 practices . I am not sure we can count him
for much this year .

And not to beat an almost dead horse but he wasn't very good when he did play.  While not as alarmingly bad as Neal, he wasn't that much better.

It's just a little disheartening that Giants OL need 2 to 3 years to pop.  You take a look at other rookie linemen and they show their wares in their first season.  Neal is now playing for his career. I hate saying that in Year 3, but the film doesn't lie.  Hopefully, the new OL coach can't get him back to serviceable. And JMS needs to show why he was a highly rated C because right now, he looks soft and not ready for primetime.  Schoen's seat should be getting a tad bit warm.

It's tough. We don't know exactly what the injury is (although I can't think of many minor shoulder issues).  In practice, he is fully suited up, but he is never seen rehabbing.  Rather he just stands around watching the team's practice.

He was either not strong enough or played with poor technique.  Needs to stop NT/DT in their tracks.

The thing that bothered me is Greg Cosell mentioned that he wasn't a fan of JMS in last year's draft (as always Greg couched his comment with the possibility he could be wrong)

The ultimate question is whether his issue is muscular/neurological or structural (i.e. bone-related). Sometimes these shoulder-related injuries can require surgery which keeps players out a full year due to restructure of the skeletal system and the time needed to build the muscle strength around the surgically repaired shoulder. The other side, neurologically, can make or break a player's career when the risk of permanent damage is at stake.

I don't know the extent of JMS' injury so it is hard to comment on what his situation is as well as his estimated return date.

It is frustrating but he is no doubt the most frustrated of all. I only wish him a complete recovery which allows him to return to practice without the risk of reinjury. If it means sitting an additional week or two, then so let it be.

Hard to do that when he can't get on the field.

If Schoen drafted pure busts with Neal and Schmitz, that will be a tough one for him to shake. He'll need to have some gem picks late to make up for those. Those were high value picks. Let's hope no more than one of them is a bust. I've all bust lost hope for Neal. Schmitz I'm still holding up some sense of hope for, as it's only been one year. He's 25 though don't forget. Not like this guy came into the league at 20 like Nabers.

Betting that in the next 10 days he will get exploratory surgery on that shoulder.

The Giants medical staff strikes again.

Just curious to know. Is Schmitz any bigger/stronger this year than last year? Does anybody know?

I have seen him in camp; he didn't strike me as being bigger.  They haven't done a presser with him, so there are no reports in terms of weight gain.  Although, as an older draftee, he is less likely to add significant weight at this point.

Can't be. I was told that he was the best center in the draft. In reality he wasn't the best center in the Big Ten. I'm still hopeful but Minnesota doesn't have a good track record of developing good NFL players.

The thing to remember with GC is he does his own film work and evaluations based on that film work.  He doesn't just go along with the crowd.
