The Giants are all in on Jones, so they should play like they're all in.

If the doctors cleared the knee, then it's time to see what he can do with his pile of weapons, especially against vanilla defenses. No better way to gain a bit of confidence before facing real defenses.

Problem is, will they play Nabers with DJ? Risking both in PS? If they don't play Nabers with DJ, than I don't see the advantage of playing DJ with #s 2 and 3 WRs.

No chance he will play. Daboll has proven he is scared of early preseason injuries

Duggan is saying that the regulars got their work done Monday and Tuesday and the game is a chance for the backups and the bubble guys to make their case for a roster spot.  That sounds like Lock and DeVito splitting the game.  I think we see the regulars next week.

Maybe next week a series or two. It's common in the NFL now. Starters play very little in preseason especially QBs.

The offense has been historically awful.

Saving the starters for another miserable season makes zero sense.

Time to work on execution in game situations.

Good arguments for and against him playing.

As for the comment by @miss86 that it's only worthwhile playing Jones if they also play Nabers, I understand the point... but IMO there is a counterpoint too.

According to all I've read, including from our members who attended camp, Jones has been going to Nabers a lot all summer, including this week against the Lions, so I don't think it should matter to Jones whether Nabers play tonight or not. I'd like to see Nabers out there with Jones against a good team, but Jones also needs to practice deciding what to do whenever Nabers is not on the field (which is almost the same thing as deciding what to do when Nabers is covered). Eventually, if Nabers proves to be as good in a real game as he has been at practice, defenses will start to take him away. Tonight might be a good opportunity for Jones to start figuring out what his "Plan B" will look like this season.

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

I'm here. I truly didn't expect him to be ready.

Glad he's 100% healthy. ACL tears aren't as detrimental as they have been in the past. Medical technology and rehabibilitation have come a long way. Credit also goes to Jones himself for doing his part.  :ok:

Looks like none of the major starters are playing. Which is predictable given Dabolls philosophy and Jones'injury history.

Personally I agree with the decision. Jones is probably going to get hurt at some point it might as well be in a game that matters. Losing a key player in a preseason game would be a fairly avoidable mistake.

Daboll's philosophy hasn't kept the Giants from being one of the most injured teams.  I remember hearing, back in the day, that a player playing to avoid injury is the one most likely to get injured.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Isn't that more reason to not play preseason games?  These guys are gonna get keep getting hurt at least get as many real games out of them as you can before it happens.
