I think Mike Tyson's classic quote fits perfectly- everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.  That FG block was the punch in the mouth and all the plans and confidence went out the window.

That could have been the start but we would have gotten buried 40-3 then. That is like the playoff game when the Giants walloped the 49ers.  remember Jerry Rice dropped a TD right at the beginning of the game. Some Niner fans still say had he caught that ball and scored the entire game would have been different. Yes the final score then would have been 49-10
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

In that game, the snowball started rolling downhill almost immediately and it picked up speed & size as it rolled downhill until it was an avalanche!! It never stopped and we were completely buried.

We were digging out the entire season with a shovel that was too small for a pile of crap that was too big.

That game was the definition of being "bitch slapped" for Big Blue.

There have been quite a few downers for us in the last 10 years, but that was an extra painful kick in the nuts to start off a season in which we were provided with that dirty word "hope" which quite a few of us latched onto like a glass of water given to a man dying of dehydration.

They couldn't deal with the pressure - neither the pressure created by the Cows or the pressure of the occasion.

They had no clue, both on and off the field.

This was up there with the worst Giants games I've ever seen, and I've been watching since '83/'84. I also don't buy the implication that had the Giants not had the initial misstep or two early in the game that the result might have been much different. They were going to get killed in this game no matter what. They were up against a substantially better team, and they were completely unprepared in all phases of the game. The opponent on the other hand, along with being much more talented, was dialed in, focused, hungry, and had the right game plan.

With our level of preparation, we convincingly lose that game 20 out of 20 times.

Thankfully, that is in the past now. If there is to be anything positive about it, I hope that our coaches and players learned from it.

I hope Dabs slips in parts of that game at every film session over the next few weeks and end each clip with "40-0", like "The End" of a movie.  Let it linger on the screen for a few extra seconds.

Excellent idea

Heck, the sequel wasn't much better on Thanksgiving. So, take your pick at:

- 0-40
- 17-49

Or, just combine them to 17-89 which is especially ugly. If the Giants cannot respond to this, it's going to be another sad state of affairs this season, I'm afraid.

Peace.
