With only a week or so until college football what are you most looking forward to?

Some major storylines:

Expanded SEC and Big10 With no divisions moving forward.

12 team playoff including auto-bids

Preseason top 10
Georgia
Ohio State
Oregon
Texas
Alabama
Ole Miss
Notre Dame
Penn State
Michigan
Florida State

Feels like Alabama is up there on name recognition alone, that and they felt bad for FSU and have them in the top 10 as a consolation prize.

This seems like the year we find out if portal teams are here to stay or not. Ole miss has the best skills and offense in the country from the portal and revamped their entire D via top guys in the portal. Ohio St has done virtually a similar route to retool. Does this new model that focuses less on the more traditional Georgia's and Alabamas that just sign 5stars and develop them from high school.

Which Qbs turn into that dude? Any Qbs that come out of nowhere? Guy you are looking at the most?

Is Deion all talk?

Do the pac12 teams that moved to the big10 or Texas/Oklahoma lose more now that they don't have a walking cupcake schedule?

Should a 11-1 group of 5 team like liberty make the playoffs over a battle tested 10-2 LSU/Texas AM?

Missing the ACC, BIG10, or SEC championship game is actually a luxury now. Say Texas(3), Georgia(1), and Ole Miss(6) all lose 1 game. The 1 game Ole miss loses is to Georgia, so its Georgia v Texas in the SEC championship game while Ole miss would likely be ranked 5-7th have that week off and then get a home game in the playoffs against the 11th/12th seed which would likely be liberty or a winnable game straight to the semi finals. So who would want to play I'm a conference championship game going forward?

Underrated teams? Overated teams? Players to watch for? I could go on and on, so much anticipation.

Great post and topic Jess.

Few thoughts.

Oregon is a darling now but I think they lose 3 games in regular season.  They will get bullied on both OL and DL.

Nobody is talking about USC but I think they are the sleeper Big 10 team.  My reason is that their new DC is going to completely changeover the D and that will result in wins.

Michigan is top 3-5 until you realize they have not identified a starting QB and need an entirely new starting OL.  Their D maybe will be even better than last year which was #1.   Will Johnson is best CB in the country and Grant/Graham are best DTs as well.  I cant figure out where to rank the team as a result of who will play QB.

OSU will continue to not meet expectations under Ryan Day.  All talent but subperforming big game coaching.

I believe Texas is overhyped.  Summer injuries have hurt them.

Georgia seems like the team to beat.

Brian Kelly should be fired for not being able to utilize Harold Perkins properly.  I mean he is really good.

Ole Miss needs to step up and win the big game.  Maybe it's this year.

I dont think the first QB drafted in 2025 will be Be k or Sanders or Ewers but instead a QB who really develops this year.

How are folks here not posting on this topic?  There are a lot of college fans here.  Let's get some discussion going.  I am thrilled about this season.  Going to the Michigan - USC game.

Gonna keep an eye on Ole Miss and qb Jaxson Dart. The Ute native deserves a good look

I have season tickets to all the ole miss games including ole miss v Georgia, so I'm pumped.

The reality is I have not done nearly the work I normally do during the summer studying all the non ND teams (I'm an ND fan). My knowledge level is usually higher by now. I plan on doing some work this weekend on this subject.

As always, I'm very excited for the season and I know who the top players and top teams are, but I don't have the in-depth team by team knowledge I normally do at this point.

That will change soon.

Really looking forward to seeing how this season plays out.  As a Penn State fan, it all depends on if our 5-star QB can start acting like one.  I've been supremely disappointed with his accuracy so far.  Our RB room is one of the best in the nation and we've brought a few WRs in that should be at least serviceable.  I'm praying our new OC can get more out of his squad so they can stop underachieving.

On the defensive side of the ball...the Big Ten is going to have some MONSTER defensive squads this year.  Even Nebraska and Iowa are getting it together.  Oregon looks fierce also and of course OSU and Michigan will be tough as ever.  PSU's defense looks solid and the guy to watch out for will be my man Abdul Carter.  Total stud moved to rush DE this year.

Abdul Carter will be a top 10 pick he's that good. He's the 1 penn st guy that flashed to me the entire peach bowl.

As a Texas fan I'm fired up for the SEC, and its loaded this year.
We have #9 Michigan, #16 Oklahoma, and #1 Georgia in the first 7 games, wow.

Games I'm most pumped for in the next couple weeks:

ND at A+M
Clemson at UGA
USC at LSU
Texas at UMich

All of those are must-watch. We'll know a lot more about some of the nation's top powers after those games have been resolved.
