President Rick

Tracy's back...faster than I thought after what IMO looked to be a nasty injury.
Good for him.  Go Giants.

Looks like a list of players we will not see vs the Jets.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on August 20, 2024, 08:09:45 PMAll in all, could be worse.

The good news is that it appears that there have been few if any, season-ending type injuries.

The bad news is the overall number of injured and the concentration as certain positions is less than ideal.

I agree with both of these statements.

Regarding the second one, my hope is that the word "injured" in this context is a loose definition and that the Giants are playing it a bit safe with anyone who has even a minor bump or bruise.

I do appreciate you want these guys practicing together as much as possible so I'm not brushing any of it off, but at least we're not reading about guys being out for the season or even missing several weeks.

Obviously, the big test is the season itself though. I feel like we went into week one of last year pretty healthy, and by the middle of the season the situation was a complete mess.

If the season started this weekend, how would the injuries impact Strategic Initiative #3?

SI#3: Improve the "Lost Man-Games Due to Injury" metric

KPI: Lost Man-Games in 2024 vs. 2023 (Month over Month, Cumulative)

Criteria (x = Lost Man-Games):

Red (Does Not Meet): x= > 10% from 2023
Yellow (Partially Meets): x= 0.1% > 10% from 2023
Green (Meets): x = -10% > 0% from 2023
Blue (Exceeds): x= < -10.1%

THIS should be Ronnie Barnes' Balanced Scorecard by which his organization's performance should be measured. We can look at it like this, as an OSHA Best Practice metric, but another way we could look at it is how Military Commanders evaluate the Operational Availability of their Personnel and/or their Assets/Equipment (e.g. F-15 Eagle II Fighter Jets, Apache AH-64 Attack Helicopters, C-17 Transport Aicraft). In other words, their primary fleet has "x" assets and "y" personnel who are fit, trained, qualified and certified to operate such assets. All "x" assets are "fully mission capable" and all personnel are "fully mission capable," then Operational Availability (A sub O) is 100%. I believe the USAF cutoff for F-15 Fighters is around 80ish % before going non-mission capable.

Going back to the Giants, similarly, Daboll has a "starters" lineup for offense, defense and special teams. If all starters are available, then Ronnie Barnes' organization gets a 100% A sub O. That % deteriorates once starters go down. Each position (player?) carries a weight (%) which impacts mission capability. This could be an alternate method for evaluating Barnes' group.

Apologies if this went off tangent a bit. My point was to demonstrate that I continue to think of objective ways to possibly evaluate Ronnie Barnes' organization instead of the usual wise-guy comments which, despite the frustration I understand and agree with when delivering them, offer little in terms of the type of quality Giants' conversation this board is known to produce. So, in that spirit, this is an attempt to try an objective approach to this always concerning matter.

Peace!

k-man: Not a problem here. The best part about our members is...

No matter what tangent a poster might go on, at least 2 or 3 of us will read, study and benefit from it.

Just wondering: will you attempt to keep track of this as the season wears on? The task seems daunting and I would gladly do it myself but I'm certain I won't have enough time this season inasmuch I we recently moved and I'm still unpacking boxes (the mess will take six months minimum to untangle). In any event, thanks for posting this.

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Hello Bob.

I do not envy you in the slightest and hope you and yours complete your move, and get settled, as timely and efficiently as possible. Having moved myself and my family 10 times for my current employer, five times during my four-year Army stint and a handful of times prior to that, I know the nomadic lifestyle better than most and empathize with your plight! My only words of wisdom are do what your body is capable of doing each day and invest in a good quality dolly!

Thank you for your input. Short of subscribing to the Lost Man-Games Report, to do so manually would be challenging and would require some ground rules and assumptions on starters during the season (e.g. when one player supplants another as a starter at a given position, or the subjectivity in assigning weights to players using the alternate metric). For giggles, I may just subscribe this year since, for $99, it would provide the data from this season as well as last and it would permit me to build a balanced scorecard using the Lost Man-Games data.

So, challenge accepted! Ronnie Barnes, no more insults! Let the metrics speak for themselves!

Peace!

k-man: If you decide to to this and send me a mailing address, I'll split the cost with you.  I would really like to see the results of such a service for one year. Bob

I'll PM you once I do and we can discuss further, OK?

Peace!
