DJ has been inconsistent at best.  Their backup QBs have looked horrible.

Their starting OL has looked better but their backups are awful.  Giants always suffer injuries so expect their OL with backups playing to bring down their offense.

Giants depth across almost every position group is poor.  They simply are not a roster stocked with talent.

Rinse, repeat.  How many years now of this same problem?

Whatever Daboll is doing as CEO is not working. 

We've been in the playoffs TWICE since 2011 with no Division titles. Arguably both appearances were a mirage.

This is officially a bottom feeder organization until they show us otherwise.

I will die a fanatic of this team that I've loved since 1970....but this is as bad as it's been since the '70's. Radical changes must be made if we see no improvement this year.

Too bad we have a garbage commissioner otherwise I'd say another Rozelle type intervention is due.

Have faith. The NFL gifted the Giants two "warm up" games to start the season. They will open against a team with a journey man starting at QB followed by a rookie promising QB with not much of promising cast.

Backups should be good enough to compete for a starting role. Hopefully, the OT's don't go down because that will be a disaster. Ezeudu, McKeathan, and Schlottmann scare me. I have no idea if Nelson, Miles and Johnson can fill in, and Neal with his arms extended like Glenn Strange or Lugosi playing the Frankenstein Monster chasing the Edge Rusher, was an all too familiar sight. 

Even the 1977 Giants defeated George Allen's Washington Redskins on opening day with a starting quarterback who NEVER played an NFL game before!

Uh, don't ask me me about his backup, or his other backup. Neither of them, put together, had any NFL experience going into 1977 either.

Just follow Lieutenant Wellington Mara's battle cry, "Full steam ahead and damn the torpedos!" To which the long suffering fans, by December 1978 responded by a civil air patrol over the stadium during their final home game, "15 Years of Lousy Football! We've Had Enough!"

To close with yet another New York legend's famous words, "It's deja vu all over again!"

 If not for that Wellington and company couldn't care how many planes flew over the stadium. They were making money hand over foot no matter how bad we were. Same can now be said about #1 son. Fly all the planes you want it sure seems as is Mara and company go out of their way to hire the most incompetent coaches Around and feed us the same crap we heard in the 70s.

There was nothing reassuring about this preseason. Let's hope they come out strong in week 1. They can't afford to start the season in the toilet again. They have to get off to a good start if they want to avoid another lost season by October.

Whoever that backup Center was in game one preseason looked better than JMS

I was too young at the time of the 77 season but why didn't they get a real starter for the season instead of CFL Picarek, a rookie and 2nd year guy with zero snaps? Or Draft Tommy Kramer or Vince Ferregamo?

You're right, Lenn. Unfortunately, not even a piece of space junk from SpaceX or the Chinese Long March Road rockets landing at mid-field would prompt the current commissioner to intercede given the Giants are the third most valuable organization in the NFL Today.

Where's Randy Dean and Jerry Golsteyn these days anyway? Patterson Plank Joe went incognito after sexual harassment charges were brought against him in 2017 by three staff women after he retired as CEO of the NFL Alumni Association. Another fumble by the New Mexico State Alumnus.

They traded Craig Morton away to Denver for their QB, Steve Ramsey. They also picked up Dennis Shaw. Those were supposed to be the veterans fighting for the starter role in 1977. Both were terrible and the youngsters, Jerry Golsteyn, Randy Dean and Patterson Plank Joe all outperformed them. As a result, John McVay decided to go into the season with the three kids.

Golsteyn and Patterson Plank Joe rotated throughout the 5-9 season.

Agreed. We have a history of not only overrating our own talent but also clinging to bad decisions and believing non-performers will suddenly turn it around. We did it with Will Hernandez. We did it with Lorenzo Carter. We've been doing it with Jones. And now we may do it with Neal.
