Anyone watching any of these games tonight? I have North Dakota State at Colorado on right now. Wanted to get early eyes on Shedeur. I always think it's very hard to evaluate these spread QBs. I'm not sure how I feel about him as a pro prospect yet.

There is zero defense being played in this game in any event. Still entertaining though.

Other games I'm excited about this week:

Notre Dame at Texas A+M: Great early measuring stick for both teams.

Clemson at UGA: Very tough matchup for Clemson. Will be interesting to see if they can hang in in this one.

PSU at WVU: PSU should be able to win this, but WVU can be very feisty at home. I'm very curious to see how Allar looks this year.

USC at LSU: USC paid Lincoln Riley a ton of money and threw him a ton of perks. He had one of the better college football QBs in recent memory. Is he ever going to make this USC program the top 5 power they thought he'd turn it into when they hired him? Meanwhile, what will LSU look like this year with Daniels, Nabers, and Brian Thomas Jr all gone to the NFL?

Miami at Florida: I don't know too much about either team yet, but this is sure to be a fun event.

For obvious reasons, I am watching the Colorado - NDSU game.  Shedeur Sanders was sitting in a collapsing pocket and got grabbed by two defenders for sack.  He got the deep pass just off for about 30-35 yards and the WR just ran under it and went for a 69 yard score.  Wow.  Gorgeous.

I watched the whole Colorado game.  Sanders displayed great vision, willingness to take a hit to make a throw and incredible touch layering the ball either over a defender or between defenders with right amount of touch in it.  Highly accurate too.  He's put on 10-15 pounds of good weight so not thin at 198 like last year.

Pat Shurmur is his OC.  Ge's letting him call the final play out of several options.  Interesting.

Travis Hunter looked great but I really liked Jimmy Horn, an explosively fast WR for them.  He literally looks like a gunshot fast player during the play.  Had 7 catches for 198 yards.

I was also very impressed with Shedeur. You described his traits very well, Joe. Excellent pocket feel/awareness, confident, and a very good arm with a terrific combo of velocity, accuracy, and touch. He definitely looked bigger than I remembered too. I really liked what I saw.

With that said I'm conscious that North Dakota State is not some defensive juggernaut. I'm looking forward to seeing him go up against some of the tougher teams on his schedule like Utah.

100% about NDSU but they gave Colorado everything and only a few plays were the difference.  Part of me has thought Shedeur may be some entitled kid yet he never lost it on his OL for all the sacks last year.  Tells me something about his character.  He sees field and processes quickly.  I really like that about him.

The times I have heard him interviewed he has sounded ok to me. I get that many are critical of the fact that he has all this money at such a young age, but blame college football not him for that. He himself has sounded ok to me. And although Deion is a little extreme and was pretty cocky himself, he seems like he is pretty strict with the team, and I suspect he was a conscientious father to his sons. So I am pretty open-minded that Shedeur may actually be a well brought up, solid kid with a good work ethic and attitude. I'm eager to learn more. I watched him some last year but didn't really explore him in depth.

At this point and based on what I saw last year of him, he's my QB1 if the Giants want to make a run in 2025 Draft.

You are right.  Just because Dad has a huge ego does not mean the kid does, even with an expensive car.

No clue why so many are high on Texas AM, I'm diehard sec fan and they lost more than anyone. Think they are getting the name recognition boost with a new HC but will be ok but not 10-2 like a ton are expecting. I fully expect the Irish to win even if it is a challenge initially.

Clemson at UGA: Very tough matchup for Clemson. Will be interesting to see if they can hang in in this one.

The Dabo Sweeney refusing to use the transfer portal in the NIL Era has killed every thread of momentum they had since Lawrence left. I think Georgia embarrasses the once thought to be the front runner for sabans job.

PSU at WVU: PSU should be able to win this, but WVU can be very feisty at home. I'm very curious to see how Allar looks this year.

I so want WVU to beat them, while PSU has the defense they've never had the offense post Saquan, and even then it's rough. Ole miss embarrassed Penn St. Defense who had the #1 ranked D in the peach bowl, I don't think the defense got better and the offense was atrocious, they had to bring in Allers backup to generate any O against the 70th ranked Ole Miss D after a month of prep. Until I see it with Penn St I'll go to the other team.

Riley can coach offense with the best of them but can't coach defense or even recruit defense. It's been the Achilles heel if every program he's had. LSU is an enigma, some think they'll be better than last year but Qb Nussmeir is a wild card, some think he's elite while some think he's meh. They are very similar to USC in that their D was atrocious last year.

Miami at Florida: I don't know too much about either team yet, but this is sure to be a fun event.

A lot of the SEC expect Florida to actually be really good but because of their schedule only win 4 games.

Games with (19)Miami, (20)Texas AM, UCF, then their final 7 games (15)Tennessee, Kentucky, (1)Georgia, (3)Texas, (11)LSU, (6)Ole Miss, (10)Florida St

Some are thinking Miami take off this year with Cam Ward at QB who came from WSU. He's lethal but I am still not sold on them. Believe the ACC is wide open with no elite teams.

On another note watch the Weigman kid at Qb for Texas AM, he's a darkhorse for Qb1 in the 2025 draft. I'm not big on him but others think he's the next Tom Brady.

Qbs who could make the 2025 draft interesting.

Weigman Texas AM
Dart Ole Miss
Cam Ward Miami
Grayson Mccall NC State

Then you have Sanders who I think is the real deal and Carson Beck who I'm not a fan of with Ewers typically in that conversation.

If Colorado is still in the Big 12 (too lazy to check), Sanders will not see too many tough defensive teams.  Sanders is likely to be in the mix for the Giants next year but having Prime as his very involved father does not make me think of Eli and a hands off Archie. I see possible issues here

The College game is so different from the NFL right now it's hard to see what translates. Sanders and Dart are my 1 and 2, a lot of time to see others elevate. I am an Ole Miss fan and I was skeptical on Dart until last year and I saw his game translate. Kiffin saw what he did wrong with Corral despite winning a lot, he's trained Dart for the NFL since he landed. I don't know that we see Colorado face enough high quality Ds to be able to properly judge Sanders.

Glad to hear you say that about A+M Jess. I think it's just going to be a tough venue, home opener at night.

The Irish look pretty good to me, although the O line is pretty inexperienced. That's the wilcard.

I fully expect Riley Leonard to be a better QB for them than Sam Hartman was.

As usual, busy getting myself up-to-speed for the big college season. Nice original post & member comments!!

With limited time, I'll be sticking generally to making Giants-related posts.

However, if an NCAA question is posted no one else jumps in with the answer, I'll do my best to help if at all possible, time permitting.

Bob

PS. Especially amped about Allar (which is likely no surprise to those who read everything written here).
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

DaveBrown74

Fired up for these games!

Slightly frustrated that both the PSU/WVU and CLEM/UGA games are at the same time. I'm dying to get eyes on both Allar and Beck. Will probably flip around and then key on whichever game is better late in the game.

ND at A+M tonight is the game of the day for me, given ND is my team. On paper they're definitely more talented, but the O line is very inexperienced. A+M also has the coaching advantage. Tricky.

If Georgia's offense is this anemic all season then they won't make it through the SEC.

Agreed... all dink and dunk and the pass pro looks shaky.

Lots of sloppy play in the PSU/WVU game.
