Odd stat I noticed from from the game was 3rd down conversions.

Giants 7-18
Vikings 3-10

Felt like those numbers would have been the opposite.

Yes, but notice that the Giants were in third down situations 8 more times than the Vikings. Both had 2 turnovers. The Giants had about 3 minutes more of TOP. Giants 9 penalties to Minn. 7.

"It's extra special against Dallas. That's absolutely a team I can't stand. I've been hating Dallas ever since I knew anything about football." - Brandon Jacobs

Difference imo is that Darnold was actually a good Qb coming out of college. Zach Wilson and Daniel Jones are way more alike than Darnold v Jones.

I feel bad for Daniel Jones. He has worked so very hard to not just improve himself but to rehab back from that Injury. Watching the game and some film after, he looked skittish and unsure of himself, so afraid of making a mistake that he forced errors upon himself. He threw passes in order to avoid a defender and they were off-target because he didn't put himself into them. He crept up in the hands of the pass rush while bidding time for the best window to throw instead of holding his base in a clean pocket. He missed better options by locking on to a Receiver and not going through his progression and seeing his second or third read. Blah, blah blah, blah blah...

He's clearly better than what we saw yesterday. Obviously, I'm not advocating for him to be the future of this franchise, but he wasn't prepared mentally for this game. I have to put that on Daboll. Is he broken? I don't know but he's surely regressed and lost confidence in himself. Between the injuries, getting the xxxx kicked out of him, and 5 QB whisperers, yes count 'em 5 (Shurmur, Garrett, Fredo, Kafka and Daboll) , it's possible they broke him. Quite frankly he was never that good to begin with. Overdrafted after a good Senior Bowl, he was unprepared and unqualified for this step up in competition. There is a switch that has to go off where a QB stops thinking and automatically rides on instinct, where a recognition sparks a physical move. That job ain't easy. It's one of the most difficult things to be proficient at. There are about 5 men in the world who can call themselves elite in any given generation.

But he's not as bad as his worst game yesterday. A couple of subtle changes and he can be salvageable to finish the season. Set up right foot forward to get set in base once the ball hits his hand. Why did they change his stance? Give him two reads on one side of the field in the quick game and if they aren't open then check down.  If there are more hats coming than his protection, give him the ability to change the play. He does well with double mesh on a high-low, but tell him to take the deep shot read first. Set up mismatches during pre-snap movement, and scheme receivers open more plays. Run the ball at least 38% of the time and not 26%, and yes I know they were behind early but stick with Singletary and only spell him for a rest, so he can get in a rhythm. He averaged 3.7 YPC on just 10 snaps with some poor blocking and some good blocking, but the Oline needs to get in a rhythm too. He was in one series and then they trot in Gray, and then Tracy. 10 snaps to your primary back is pathetic. Even if you lose a series or two running, it sets up the game for later. If a Receiver drops a pass, sit him for a play. Not the rest of the game. Ok, Slayton is the better receiver right now, but 1 target for Hyatt? Come on Dabs, 12 Personnel with all those weapons? Dude!

It wasn't all DJ.

If I am reading this right, the OL for us graded out much better at 4/5 positions. Wheras the 5th was pretty equal

Pretty encouraging, right?

I don't think Minnesota's include the 2 3rd down penalties that were killer.  The bs pass interference on Jackson and the facemask on Thibodeaux.  Weren't they 2-for-2 on t4th down?
