A baseline player gets a 60.  I award hero status to 75 or greater and goat status to below 50 (minimum of 12 snaps)

OFFENSE

Hero

Andrew Thomas

Goats

Greg Van Roten
Tyrone Tracy
Theo Johnson
Jalin Hyatt

For those that are curious Jones has a poor 57.2 grade

DEFENSE

Heroes

Dexter Lawerence (elite)
Andru Phillips

Goats

Elijah Chatman
Nick McCloud
Kayvon Thibodeaux
D.J. Davidson

For those that are curious how the Burns (the man that cost a big contract AND a high second-round pick)- had a poor 53.8

Elite grade with 67% of snaps, makes sense

Good job Bowen/Daboll/whoever

Not that the offense would have been able to capitalize.

Rich,

Can you post the grades for all of the offensive linemen please?

The top 3 guys are the ones I picked out watching the game and Van Roten, Johnson, McCloud and Thibodeaux all made my horror show list so whilst PFF definitely is not perfect it is hard to argue this week.

I do think Jones has been kindly graded given they blame him for 3 sacks, 7 pressures and both Int but there were a few nice throws interspersed with the dysfunctional. They might shift their data despite the fact that they did nothing to change the game.

Not that you need a lecture, but that's both the benefit and detriment of PFF: a complete lack of context. A beautiful garbage time throw is as valued the same as one that wins a game. For context, QBR (17.4) tells us Jones detracted heavily from the Giants' chances of winning the game.

Well I guess its nice to see that 3 or 4 OL are not listed as goats as they were almost every game last year.

Burns had 4 tackles including 1 for loss and did force a throw early that resulted in an incompletion.  If not for two of those plays he could have challenged Thibodeaux as the lead role in "The Invisible Man".

Always been one of my issues with their system.

It's a feature in some ways. They don't attempt to quantify context, but that also takes some subjectivity out of the equation (there certainly remains a good deal, but definitely less removing relative importance of the play). It's certainly fair to say in light of that approach that PFF is not issue-determinative as to whether someone played well or is "good" or "bad," but I don't really see it as a flaw. It's just something to consider when looking at what PFF is telling you.

It also doesn't account for the quality of matchups; a player can be a "hero", but that could be a byproduct of playing against a 3rd stringer.  PFF has value, but shouldn't be viewed in a vacuum.

Runyan was the only one credited with a sack. Who gets the other 4 sacks?

PFF only seems to have 4 sacks (as opposed to ESPN's 5)

They assigned the other 3 sacks to Daniel Jones

I hate to say it but Tibs will go down as a big miss in NY Giants history. Just watch the game as he gets handled on the line with relative ease. Still no pass rush moves, dances around and accepts being blocked.
You add him and Neal together and you two historic misses in the top 10.

When you look at the state of the 2024 NY Giants, the lack of contribution from Schoen draft picks plays a very big role, regardless of other issues.
