Good thing the Giants got rid of that trouble maker Wink

For all the ears I've watched football, when you had a rookie QB in there, or a backup QB, you make a defense to confuse the QB who isn't used to being there. The only thing Bowen and this horrible defensive game plan did was confuse us fans into thinking we have made progress on defense.
People, we had a rookie QB, playing his 2nd game EVER, in the NFL and he beat our defense as grandma beats her old carpets. He let a rookie QB, making mincemeat out of our defense, marching down the field on EVERY offensive possession, and never making them punt ONCE, What will be done against a really good offense?
Bowen, Daboll, Kafka, and the entire crew (well, maybe I'd keep the new OL coach) need to go, and ASAP would suit me just fine.
Stop making excuses for everyone, when it smells like xxxx, it usually is.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

It's a new defense plus a bunch of young men at several key positions. Regardless of the obvious continuing problems yesterday, a fair number of other problems have improved noticeably, IMO.  Bob

As Bobby Skinner noted, Jayden Daniels is not pushing the ball downfield.  He is dinking and dunking.  Yet, the Giants couldn't stop that offense from scoring the 7 times they got the ball.  There is no way to justify such a putrid performance.  Especially since it didn't look like there were issues with communications.  Rather, it seemed the defense was out-schemed and outplayed.

At some point a D has to break the rhythm of an offense.  Bowen failed to do so.

Rich: You could be right.

On the other hand, Wink might have gambled enough times to leave Daniels an easy shot downfield that would have converted what eventually turned out to be a field goal into a touchdown (meaning that the Commandos' margin of victory would have been larger).

IMO credit goes to Daniels (my favorite QB in this draft) for not forcing the ball into a defense designed to keep him out of the end zone. It kept the Giants in the game.  Three TD's is still not enough to win in the current version of the NFL.  You've got to average about 25 points, IMO.

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

FWIW, it's early days but the defense has has given up 21.0 ppg under Bowen.  Which is lower than every season under Wink.  Just sayin'.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Not slowing my roll

Its only 2 games and I hope they get it together

But seeing Banks play 10 yards off the receiver after constantly giving up 3rd and longs was extremely frustrating

I know his defense is based off the Zone.... but he needs to be an adult and adjust... the few times he brought the pressure you can see the pocket collapse a little at the minimum .... bring it more and you will see some results

Also the fact that we could not stop the dinks and dunks all game was extremely frustrating and embarrassing honestly

If you haven't watched the Nick Falato review, it's an excellent synopsis. Looks like Bowen's scheme is heavily dependent on linebacker play.

What about the horrible holding on Dru Phillips? Are you accounting for the effects of that? Or does it only work one way? Does the NFL determine a win by who punts less or who scores more points?

NFL teams should be able to score more than 21 points. Feel free to disagree.
The Giants had the ball for 7 possessions and only 22 minutes. The running game was effective. Washington also
played a two deep zone limiting the Giants to short/intermediate passes. There was also no kicker.

Given those facts, scoring only 21 points is not unusual.

I was extremely high on Thibs coming into the league. I thought he'd be the real deal. Looks like I got that one very wrong. He's obviously NFL material, but he's far from great.
