The Giants won't go 0-17. They won't go 1-16. They'll go 6-11, 5-12, something like that. Pretty bad but not bad enough to solve the QB problem through the draft.

This is a very rough schedule with no Saquon to bail them out this season. They go as far as Daniel Jones takes them and mistake-free, uninspired quarterback play doesn't do much in this league. They'll sneak one or two wins (likely DJ's yearly big games), but yesterday was one of those games versus a bad team that you lament winning at the end of the year because it costs you draft position... and they managed to lose it!

They probably win four games.

I only see 2 teams - Carolina and Denver - that are as bad as the Giants.   And those 2 teams both have young, 1st-round picks at QB.

If we can finish with the #3 pick, they should be able to get whoever they want. Teams could obviously trade up ahead of us, but I'm not sure Ewers or Beck are worth that kind of move.

And maybe the Giants don't like either of those guys, move on from DJ, and bring in a Brissett-type placeholder until they can get someone they covet (Arch?).

While I'm sure most in the board won't like the idea of not drafting a QB, I also don't want to have Dave Brown 2.0 (although I think Ewers is solid). Honestly, I'd love to have Travis Hunter or Will Johnson.

Quote from: Ed Vette on September 15, 2024, 04:42:27 PMMinnesota beat the Niners who looked invincible last week. The Saints beat the crap out of Dallas.

Both Jones and Daniels improved their game. Second week in a row that the Oline protected well.

I question  :what: no targets to Hyatt and Simmons in the dog house again.

Dru is going to be an elite Slot guy.

Losing your kicker early was a killer and it dictated the Giants game.

I'm not impressed with Daboll's Offense so far. But I get him with the walker on Jones. Maybe there will be incremental improvement. Normally starting 0-2 is a killer but I'm still engaged.

Ed: Apparently, your TV & mine show games differently than the TV's of the vast majority of our members.

I saw it too.

I fear (and at least one other member also stated this recently) Giants will wind up at a lever just good enough to cause the big shots to question if they need to go after a 1st-round QB in next year's draft.

Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Bob,

The only big shot that wants to hold onto Jones is Mara. Schoen has the cojones to tell him 'No, we're going to get another guy', just like he let Saquon walk.
 :Giants:  ALL HAIL THE NEW YORK GIANTS!!!  :Giants:

I've been wanting a new qb for 5 years and yet I posted something similar in the college thread, I am not impressed by most of the Qbs this coming season. I would be ecstatic to have the 1st pick and trade it to a qb needy team to gain assets, pick up a qb in the 2nd rd to go with a bridge qb like brissett, and build the team to grab a guy in 26/27.

You titled this "I saw improvement"

So did I.  But that is what makes it so much more infuriating>.

What good is the improvement if the head honcho doesnt know what to do with it??

I think we should take a chill pill.

All year? Yes.

In the next 6 games? Maybe. I don't know. But I do know that the odds of one are higher than the odds of zero, even though I understand it doesn't feel that way.

So do we.

Not using TE ,Gray and Hyatt on offense is a mystery.....
Thibs is a bust anyway you look at it. He does nothing and is handled by one blocker on most plays....5th overall pick .....pretty much an ass as well when talking to media.

Some players play like trash because they ARE trash.

Others play like trash because of lack of direction and leadership.

There is an unhealthy mix of BOTH on this roster.

Short of miraculously going 5-3 over their next 8, (1,000/1 shot IMVHO)...it looks like it must be BIG changes at the top.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!
