Do you think the officials charging Bellinger with a 15 yard facemask penalty

Turned the game around?  The Giants were forced to kick an FG early because instead of giving the Giants 15 yards and a first down, they took away 8 yards and then pushed them back 15 yards because they penalized the Giants for a Cowboy's facemask.

If the officials hadn't screwed over the Giants, could this game have ended differently?

It was one of the most egregious errors I have ever seen by officials, but I don't think it affected later plays.  If the team couldn't focus after a bad call, I think that's a big issue for a professional football team.

It certainly could have ended differently, and I have absolutely no idea how that call could have been that screwed up.
I'm not saying that call turned the tide of that game, but even Herbstreit said it was a 30 yard swing. Going backward 15 yards as opposed to forward 15 and having a 1st & 10 on the 17 yard line.
And I'm sure there will be no consequences against the crew. If their lucky, the Giants will get "an apology" from the league.

too early in the game to turn it around..but it was a killer for sure. i cannot believe a bigger deal was not made of it. easily the single worst call i have ever seen. we looked like we were hunting for the end zone that drive. could have made a huge difference.

MrGap92

Absolutely

Would it have? We will never know but if that turned into a TD could have easily changed the overall

Not sure it turned the game around but it was a huge play. There's a massive difference between 1st and 10 at the 18 and 2nd and 18 at the 48. Obviously, there's a decent chance the drive ends in a field goal anyway.

We go back 15 yards instead of going forward 15 yards

Thats a 30 yard difference.... Then taking back the obvious holding call

This game was no doubt taken by the refs

Not an excuse for not getting TD's ...... but the free TD giving ... and 30 yard difference is appalling ... I was literally confused with life watching the game up to that point

It was an awful error- and I'd say as bad as the call was by the refs I assign even more blame to Bellinger, Daboll and his staff.  It's simply unbelievable to me that this is not something that a competent coaching staff wouldn't have caught (and SCREAMED about).  It made me wonder out loud last night if this wasn't a direct negative result of a head coach calling the plays - when they panned to Daboll he was of course headlong into figuring out the next play instead of paying any kind of attention to the bigger picture.

Anyway, for as bad as it was I have zero confidence it would have changed the outcome of the game.  It seemed obvious last night that the end zone was toxic.  It likely would have simply had effects on the clock/# of possessions and that's it.

It's possible. Being down a TD versus a FG could have had some negative effects on Dallas's psyche, knowing they weren't playing well either. To have an offense that they don't respect put up a TD on them could have put more pressure on them and simultaneously given the Giants offense a confidence boost.

Oh well... more time to get healthy and lick their wounds.

Terrible call, but we will never ever know if it turned the game around or not. The fact is the Giants had numerous red zone opportunities after that. They just can't score touchdowns. So they have no one to blame for the loss but themselves. Dallas's defense before last night was a sieve. And they lost Lawrence early in the game and others. Still the Giants couldn't capitalize.

kartanoman

They made a mistake and the league will issue a statement stating such.

Besides, they knew they screwed it up and fix it by trying to pay back the Giants during the game. Certainly a few obvious holding plays by the Giants not called would qualify as reimbursement, wouldn't you think?

Also, the Bellinger mistake was early on and really had no effect on the Giants apart from a shoulder shrug and a "what, who, me, are you kidding?" response.

Life goes on.

Peace!

We will never know but it was a gross mistake that should have been corrected by officials in booth or where ever they are. Dubble should have protested the call as well.

It may have been the only chance by Giants to get a TD as big mo was on their side at the time.

I doubt it would have changed the game that much, the Giants hardly threatened the end zone all night.

But ultimately, it's impossible to say.

Gmo11

I don't think it changed the game but certainly changed that drive. If the Giants marched down the field, that happens, and they never get into the red zone again i'd say it might have changed the game but they had plenty of opportunities after that happened and blew it all on their own.

I also thought the holding call getting picked up on the Cowboys TD was just as egregious.  Ref saw a hold, threw the flag, replay shows a dude getting held, somehow flag gets picked up after they see the Cowboys had scored a TD.
