I thought it would be interesting to see where some of the preseason indicators led us (now that we are roughly a quarter of the way through the season.

Malik Nabers is the real deal-  Other than two killer drops, Nabers has been all that was expected

Brian Burns is unblockable- Once the games counted, Burns became very blockable

Baby Bison is special-  Chatman has flashed but his PFF score is below water

CB Banks is not progressing as hoped-  Banks is not progressing into the number one CB we were hoping for.

Hyatt is going to take a big step forward-  who?

DJ is struggling with the long ball-  DJ is struggling with the long ball

The O-line looks better-  The O-line looks better

Dex is a beast-  Dex is a beast

Flott is looking like a bust-  the last 2 games Flott hasn't looked bad

TE Theo Johnson flashes-  Theo and the rest of the TEs have been invisible

Some concerns with the running game-  the running game has cost this team wins

Nice. Not much to disagree with, but if I had more time I'd push back on Jones and the deep ball. Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

The numbers for the completion of long passes by Jones are poor.   We know that Jones has it in him to throw deep, but he doesn't.  Matt Simms suggested some sort of technique issue.   Phil Simms suggested that Jones is trying to place the ball rather than letting it rip.   I wonder what his QB coach is doing to help him.  I hope it's not a result of his various injuries.

I disagree on the TE assessment. They are only invisible because the QB won't throw it to them. The field has been WIDE OPEN for the taking. Jones either refuses to look their way, cannot process that read, or Daboll is instructing him to only focus on the WR room. But to say they're invisible can be interpreted as a knock on them and I don't believe that is at all their fault. Daboll also seems to keep them in the box more often to block as well. But they have plenty of chances to make plays if the QB would throw them the ball which would actually help Nabers

Great job Rich.

Hyatt was supposed to be what Nabers is.  It's why they traded up.  What has happened?

Nubin - buried in depth chart but vets said he looks like he will be special.  Now he seems to be emerging in play as a legit starter.

Dru Phillips - snappy quick twitch slot CB.  Showing great skills as a starter at slot CB.

It seems odd you would blame DJ for the lack of contribution by the TEs.  Have you considered the coaches and the scheme?  If you haven't, I am not sure how you could blame DJ.  Consider the PFF receiving grades for the Giants 3 TEs

Player >>> Receiving Snaps >>> Grade

Theo Johnson >>> 119 >>> 44.6
Daniel Bellinger >>> 25 >>> 64.2
Chris Manhertz >>> 12 >>> 47.0

I don't know how you could look at those receiving grades and jump to the conclusion that Daniel Jones is the problem, rather than the TEs.

Both Nubin and Phillips were hampered by injuries in the PS.   Nubin seems to have come back healthy, while Phillips is injured again.  I fear that Phillips' 110% all out play style may leave him hurt more than what is ideal.

This (more than any other possibility) seems most likely. Bob

Once again it's always someone else's fault and not Jones's.

Are you saying the TEs are never open?
Are you saying Daboll isn't calling their number?

Once the ball is snapped Jones should be able to throw it to anyone, even to he TE, but he never looks their way even as an outlet.

Does Jones have the ability to audible at the line?
Or does he have to run the play as called?
It sure looks as if he is locked into whatever play is called as evidence he doesn't read defenses very well.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Of course, this can be easily turned around, and you could be accused of always blaming everything on Daniel Jones.   See how that works, Lenn?  It's so easy to be intellectually dishonest and make the sort of baseless accusations you enjoy making, but frankly, I don't see what the benefit is.

PFF is basically useless. It says Jones has been great yet he can't throw a TD in over 2 years at home. Also if u noticed my post, I also said maybe it's Daboll fault.

One thing is for absolutely certain - our QB hasn't ever utilized the TE to its max. Especially in big spots. Now he has a shiny new toy and he's locked on him and almost getting him killed because he's going to him too much. Bottom line - sometimes it is Jones fault. He is 1-3 and should've won 2 of those games!

The claim in bold is rather weird considering how much he liked to throw to Waller (on the rare occasions he was healthy)

I honestly didn't feel he used Waller enough. But to your point why hasn't he tried our TE this year?...the middle is wide open

I think you can make the case that the Giants have the worst catching TEs in the league. It looks as if Schoen puts a premium on blocking at the expense of good hands and route running.
