SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

The OL signed in the offseason all had better pass blocking grades compared to their run blocking.

That being said, I thought if the passing game was effective the run game could be set up from that.  Has not materialized yet.

kinda ironic that the run blocking is now the issue, hopefully they can tighten it up a bit

In game 3 they had 228 passing yards and 112 rushing yards.  In game 4 they had 277 passing yards and 26 rushing yards.  So I'm not seeing it.

I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Not slowing my roll

Part of the problem is clearly the offensive line but the other half of the equation is that the running back room is near the bottom of the league in talent. Luckily for us this is going to be a very deep running back class and there should be an excellent player available in the top half of the third round.

I still say, stick with one Back and only spell him if he's winded. RBs need a certain amount of reps to get in a rhythm, getting used to how the Defense is defending and where the opportunities are. I think it should be Singletary but whomever it is they need to stay in the game.

I also think they have put a premium on pass protection and as time goes on they will get better in Run Blocking.

None of the three are built to carry a heavy workload. All you'll do is get him hurt.

Game---Zone___Gap___YPC___YARDS
1------7______10____3.5___74
2------4______16____5.9___129
3------10_____12____3.5___112
4------15______7____1.1___26

Keep in mind that the type of players and Defense they face will dictate whether to Zone or Angle/Gap Block, but on the surface, it looks like they have been more effective at Gap Blocking. I don't have the play-by-play.

What do you consider a heavy workload? Singletary hasn't had more than 16 attempts in any game. I wouldn't be afraid to rush him 20-22 times and not all snaps are run snaps. Why replace him to pass block or Receive? Tracy and Gray went out for a pass on 12 plays on Thursday night.

He's listed at 205 but looks smaller than that. At 20-22 carries a game I'd expect him to be hurt before week nine. There's a reason why he's been a complimentary back in the league.

I agree about Singletary. He is a complementary back only. As it is, 16 is probably the max.

Obviously he has not been good enough, but these other guys have done zilch so far either, and RB is a position where if you're good at all you show as a rookie. Eric Gray is a complete stiff. Useless player who should not be back next year.

This Giants regime just loves diminutive scat backs. They deserve the bed they lie in.

Gray is a useless bum who recently added fumbling to his skill set.

And previous regime loved washed up, 30-plus year old backs like Jonathan Stewart, Devonta Freeman, Davonte Booker, Dion Lewis, etc.

Wayne Gallman is probably the second best Giants running back of the last decade. Let that sink in.
