In a somewhat surprising move, the New York Giants worked out veteran journeyman quarterback C.J. Beathard on Monday. Despite having a healthy Drew Lock and third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito on the roster, the Giants are seemingly exploring additional options by assessing the 30-year-old Beathard to see if he still has something to offer.

WTF does this mean???????????????
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Splinters in the gluteus maximus are nothing to joke about.

QuoteWhile Beathard's workout is sure to raise some eyebrows, it is our understanding that it was just a routine workout to help with working out pass catchers and to determine if there might be further interest on the part of the club to add him to the team's shortlist of candidates in the event of an emergency or at the end of the year, when the Giants typically sign a slew of free agents to reserve/futures contracts.

Maybe they're getting ready to bench Jones to protect him and they aren't sold on Lock?

I'd rather see DeVito than this guy and I do not want to see DeVito

If they keep losing, and it doesn't look good against Seattle, 1-4 might prompt this move. If he hits the PS and no injuries are reported, that's surely the intention. Regardless of Coach Speak.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Good guesses.  Here's mine.  IMO one of the QB's was injured during practice.

The fact that it hasn't yet been reported causes me to think it's Jones.

We'll know on the Thursday report.

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

How about this for a guess

They were really working out WR/KR  and they needed someone to throw the ball to them

Perhaps a case of Cognitive Dissonance is going around,
or so it seems...

Dan, clearly with age comes wisdom.  Some fans seem to forget that it was a day off for the players.  So if the Giants wanted to work out WRs and see how they catch the ball (and they tried out quite a few WRs) then they need someone to throw them the ball.

I have no concrete reason for the following BUT I have thought all along that Dabol wants to replace DeVito.

I just think he does not like him.  And yes I think he is that small.

After his injury last year has NEVER given him another opportunity to lead this team.   For 2 preseasons has made him the sacrificial lamb for the vast majority of the snaps but what is that about anyway ?

Our offense is so predictable because beyond 20 yards our chance for success is laughable.  Sure makes it easier for opposing DC.  And thus in 2 home games we have no touchdowns.

Jones is gone, just like Tyrod was gone.  But still DeVito gets no chances to lead this offense.  What could it hurt ?

Trust the process :)  So Mr. HC, OC, play calling genius what is your process at QB ?

I don't know how Daboll feels about DeVito.  I will say that I was a bit disappointed that DeVito seemed to embrace his celebrity a bit too much, possibly to the point of hurting him on the field.  I would have liked to see fewer in-season personal appearances in favor of more time studying film and preparing.

Perhaps a coach that inspires him would help in that area Rich.  After a while who is to say you don't look at your situation and say "why bother" ?  "Thanks for the 2 preseasons of work and quitting on me for no good reason".  "You play 2 lame ducks while this team circles the drain.....again.

As for the personal appearances, you may be right, BUT that is pure conjecture.  Just as my theory is pure conjecture.
