I'm sure this will unearth a lot of discussion regarding his HOF credentials.

One of the truly great players the game has ever seen.

RIP.

Ed Vette

"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Imo, he should be in.  Nothing he did after he quit playing changes the fact that he had one of the most remarkable playing careers in baseball history.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

RIP to Pete Rose and Dikembe Mutombo.

MLB will put him in the Hall now just because they're sick like that
Get busy livin ,  or get busy dying.

Rose is never getting into the HOF and his death will not change that. Book it.

He was a great player but his arrogance and his ego were bigger than anything else. He would have been in the HOF in an instant had he said he did wrong and apologized. But that was beyond him.
Yes he will get in on his death but he got what he deserved in life.
May he RIP
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Gambling always seemed like a strange addiction to me. I have no doubt it is an addiction, but personally, I have never felt the pull to gamble.  I mean, I have gone to a casino.  I have been in various football betting pools.  I have been to the track.

Yet, if I never gamble again in my life, I would not miss it in the least.

I feel bad for Rose that his addiction ruined his life and his legacy.

SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

RIP Charlie Hustle. I loved watching him play. All out, all the time.
IMO, he should be in the HOF.

He should have been in the Hall during his lifetime. It's my understanding that he bet ON HIS TEAM TO WIN. His job as Manager is to do all he can to win, so where was the harm. Considering the proliferation of sports betting today he should have been put in the Hall once sports betting became prevalent.

Sure but I only wage alcoholic beverages.   :drunk:
