Quote from: T200 on October 01, 2024, 09:44:10 AMI accept that that is YOUR understanding but I can assure you, and I'm putting this out there as a matter of record, that I do not think that people should be free to be disrespectful and take shots at you. I've never said that or shown that.

I will speak out when I feel like you're being hypocritical, which I have done in this case with Len. And, in doing so, I was not disrespectful to you, nor did I misrepresent what you said, as you clearly did with me.

Tim,

You can claim what you want to claim, but I am on the receiving end of the abuse; I know how it is.  Thanks to your policy of it's okay to crap on MightyGiants policy; I have had to develop a pretty thick skin in terms of insults, dishonest accusations, and cheap shots.  I have long given up trying to get or expect fair or respectful treatment (I will say most people here do, but there are a handful who don't).    I will add you misrepresented how I made my point as hypocritical; the fact that you said NOTHING to Len about his inappropriate accusation is a prime example of what I am talking about.

As I said, I don't expect things to change, so I see no point in further discussion; things are what they are.

Respect is not a one-way street that only favors you, Rich.

Tim,

Seriously, you encouraged TDToomer's dishonest personal attacks by your own attacks.  I treat everyone here with respect, but you make sure that it's a one-way street if they want.  Thankfully, there are only a handful of posters that take advantage of the free shots you offer them.

After a month of seeing this year's team, it's hard to see another win coming in the next six weeks.

The defense is more concerning to me than the offense right now.

That's an interesting thought.

I thought we had Strahan and Osi with Thibs and Burns but nowhere close.  Dex continues to be good.  Chatman flashes.  Banks needs a major development lift as anointed CB1 but he is not there.  I like Nubin and Phillips and see hope there. The inside LBs have been fine.

The offense has improved a bit with better pass blocking and emergence of Nabers, but it is still a stops, stalls out consistently, offense.

EDjohnst1981

I think the offense has the potential to be middling, which is a vast improvement and all credit to them.

My big concern is that Nabers accounts for over 36% of the targets (52 targets of 144 pass attempts). That's a lot through 4 games - what happens when/if Defences take him away?

Robinson looked good in the last game but they really need others consistently stepping up.

I think it's safe to say that neither side of the ball is playing at a level that would qualify a team for the playoffs.

Dan Duggan is concerned about the hits Nabers is absorbing, I think that's a very valid concern.  Beyond that, why not throw it to your best, by a substantial margin, receiver?  If they take him away, it likely will open it up for others.

One of my favorite stats at PFF is QB rating when targetted.

Nabers-  110.4
Bellinger- 108.3
Gray- 104.2
Tracy- 100.8
Singletary- 93.9
Robinson- 80.2
Slayton- 63.7
Johnson- 59.8
Hyatt- 0.0

Oh, I have no issues throwing to the best player on the field. My concern was more about becoming one-dimensional.

Thanks for the PFF stats, those numbers look broadly okay when they are targeted. A number of those would get into your Heroes/Elite list you helpfully provide each week - is that right?

Carolina or Cinci; the latter is really struggling while the former got a boost when they swapped out the QB.  I still believe we'll win 6 games, which requires us to win at least two of our next 5 :)

The secondary continues to be suspect and without an effective and consistent pass rush, they will continue to be used and abused. Seattle has the weapons to exploit our pass defense.

I gave the number for the 4 weeks, but I believe that it is provided on a game-by-game basis, so yes.

Jones doesn't target the TE position because he keeps going to the shiny new toy. And that shiny new toy has already absorbed too many hits

B1GBLUE

Quote from: Trench on September 30, 2024, 10:01:59 AMI disagree on the TE assessment. They are only invisible because the QB won't throw it to them. The field has been WIDE OPEN for the taking. Jones either refuses to look their way, cannot process that read, or Daboll is instructing him to only focus on the WR room. But to say they're invisible can be interpreted as a knock on them and I don't believe that is at all their fault. Daboll also seems to keep them in the box more often to block as well. But they have plenty of chances to make plays if the QB would throw them the ball which would actually help Nabers

Is there film of them being wide open in the middle of the field?

When DJ throws to Nabers, his passer rating is 110.4

When he throws to Theo Johnson (who does the bulk of the TE receiving plays), he has a passer rating of 59.8

I have a hard time faulting DJ's choices
