I hope he has a full recovery and doesn't have any long-term ill effects. Unfortunately I can't help but also think of Nabers in the vein as Tua.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 04, 2024, 01:29:13 PMWe were 1-3 with him. What season?

In fairness, we were in 3 of the games, and if the breaks went our way, we could have been 3-1.   1-4 is a pretty deep hole to dig out from.  Admittedly a win with Nabers was a bit of a longshot, this just makes it worse.

Of course this also shows just how damning those 2 self-inflicted losses are to the team.   A loss when you are 3-1 is much easier to absorb than one at 1-3

Fair points Rich.

On the other hand, I'd argue we have been quite fortunate so far this year on the health front. Injuries have been ridiculous around the league. Major guys around the league are dropping like flies. I know losing Nabers for even one game hurts, but overall this year we have been on the longer end of the stick luck-wise when it comes to health. We'll see whether that lasts. I have my doubts.

I'd also echo your point that the likelihood of us winning the game even with Nabers playing wasn't exactly that high (albeit hardly implausible).

Sending him well wishes and hoping he recovers soon and, more importantly, completely.

Football can wait. His health and wellness being, far more important.

Peace!

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)

I think this is the right decision.  Nabers has a ridiculously bright future and the Giants this season are unlikely to have much different of a result than they've had in recent seasons.  The last thing you want to do is risk having him develop into a constant concussion threat like Tua is.  Give him as much time as he needs to heal before bringing him back.  Next season they have every chance to compete.  This year not so much.

Not to mention that I think he may have actually been concussed before the final blow that put him out of the game.  He was moving around slowly looked a bit out of it on that last drive even before the big hit at the end.  And if that's true, it means he suffered a huge blow to the head while concussed it makes sense that they would take every precaution and give him extra time to recover.

this isn't a Giants decision to get right or wrong.  Players in the concussion protocol are evaluated by independent neurologists.   So the Giants are bound by what the independent physicians decide, it's out of their hands

Just the Giants luck. We finally get an impact draft pick and he lasts all of 4 games.
Sure we hope no long term effects but once phone to concussions who can say what the future holds.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Time to see if Jones is better or just Nabers makes him better.

If Hyatt is even 80% the talent many here keep claiming he is, this would be the game to put that on display.

The Giants are going to get run over this Sunday. Like a tank rolling over a watermelon. It's not Schoen's or Dabol's fault if that happens.
